A Few Signs Of Spring

The pansies were given to me by a special friend last Fall.   They lasted all winter.

When the little girls visit or anyone - Callie is waiting for attention.

In town this morning and saw a small tree in full bloom.  Next trip in a few days I will take an image.
A quick walk through Lowe's and nothing much out but I could not resist buying something
Bought a small burning bush with the thought it will add a little color here in the woods.   Also
bought a small blue spruce to add among the trees.

An unusually warm day today with it reaching into the high 70's.   Rain suppose to arrive tonight
but many times what they say is going to happen never happens.

Have some lettuce seeds to plant in the next few days.

As I walk the paths in the woods I keep looking for signs of Spring coming through the carpet of leaves.
Not much emerging as of yet

I read the following passage from a poem and it brought back memories of long ago.
Memories of my youngest and I who were in church every time the doors opened.
Now
everything has changed, the local people, the local church and One Woman.
It is a good change....
and one thing has not changed -  the cross I have worn for years seldom comes off  my neck

~~~I had such a longing for virtue, for company.
       I wanted Christ to be as close as the cross I wear.
       I wanted to read and serve, to touch the alter linen.
       Instead I went back to the woods, where not a single tree
       turned its face away~~~
In part from  ~~Mary Oliver~~    from a poem in her book  "Thirst"
I like burning bushes....
Spring flowers are my favorite. I now understand what Mary Oliver meant about going back to the woods. I feel more spiritual than religious at this time in my life.
Your post is filled to the brinm with hope for spring. I loved it. And you know I adore your flowers and talks of of lettuce seeds going in the soil.
Each day I walk on this earth I am more sure nature is a dear friend to us. And...books...family....friends....
We have so much.
Thanks for the visit. ((hugs))
we're finding a few signs here, too, but i am impatient! snowflakes fall as i write you early this morning. they won't accumulate - it is 36 degrees. despite the rising daffodils with buds i can now distinguish and the almost-open crocus buds scattered about the landscape and planted in the courtyard pots, it is still far too nippy here to consider calling this chilly morning "spring."
Beverly, Sharon, Sandy and Sky,
What a special poem. I love Mary Oliver's poems...have several of her books.
I too love burning bushes in the fall. They were so pretty here last year. I've wanted to put them across the woods.
We had a thunder shower during the night...sounded like Spring.
Balisha, like rain but not storms.
I have many of Mary Oliver's books,
her poems speak to my heart.
Lowe's had a pretty good price on this bush. Just wanted to plant something - know you can relate to this and I am vowing not to plant anything else.
Judy, thinking of you...
What a wonderful poem for my day! So well said for me who wants only to be at peace.
My backyard is filling up with Spring Beauty blooms; they're really little weeds, but have as much beauty as a big flower.
