Monday in February

This post was written almost a year ago.
Same thoughts on my mind.....

Orange cookies baked and cooling
Callie running in the woods
Yoga, breakfast
Desk work, yard work
Gravel arriving for drive
Wondering if winter
jackets can be put away

Meditating

Working on mindfulness

This is her day

Wild Geese

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the sun
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting--
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

I love how your list of everyday life dissolves into a single word. Meditation. Then the way two thoughts spill from the depths of meditation.

I, too, am wrapping myself within written words of Mary Oliver; I am warmed by their company. With Mary, there are no outsiders -- everyone has a place at the table. Of course, it's the same with you.

Thanks for today's nourishment.

Perfect!
I was reading the words at the end and was not surprised at all to see they were the words of Mary Oliver. Her work is so beautiful...and it always makes me so happy that she has such a strong Cape Cod connection.
You are so wise and always bring delight. Thank you!

Okay, I love orange cookies; I love yoga and breakfast too. Work is good for us and keeps our energy moving.

I'm working on mindfulness too, and meditation.

Wild Geese and Mary Oliver..."the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese." I love to think that the world calls to me.

Blessings.

This is the second poem I ever read by Mary Oliver. A friend typed up a copy to share with me and I still carry it in my purse. I am grateful for the reminder that I have a place in the family of things.

What a smile you put upon my face when I saw your visit. A simple kind act was perfect timing. Thank you. Whatever has given me the chance to find you I am so happy your words give me something I seem to need...can't explain...just so happy to meet you. Thank you.

aneverydaylife, Lori, Marcia, MG, Beverly and Sharon - thanks for visiting.
Sandra, I have posted the recipe for the Orange cookies in the past. I make them at least once a month. They are so easy and good.
Christy, so glad for your visit.
All have a wonderful day...

I agree that it's too soon to put the coats and boots away. We always get a false spring followed by another cold spell.

I hope you don't have more snow.
