She is so happy that her son is allowed to follow a part of his dream.
In her mind she is near him in this land - far away.
She misses him and is so pleased he keeps in touch and shares such wonderful letters with her.
.................today, Sunday, I taught my second Iyengar yoga class here - first one yesterday a very full ( 14 men and women from everywhere ) and very international level one class - today's class advanced and all women - 6 Thai ladies, one British, and one from Brooklyn......it went quite well and there were even 4 teachers amongst them......the class started at 11:00 am and halfway thru the class it got really dark and stormed the rest of the class - and most of the afternoon - outside the windows of the studio the owners wife has lots of potted bamboo plants on a balcony which combined with the torrential rain and wind was quite exotic and added a distinct touch to the atmosphere as we segued to more restorative poses - since it was raining so hard after class I had dinner downstairs at Zen - which is a chain of Japanese restaurants here - the studio is in a 4 story office bldng 20 minutes walk and skytrain ride away from my apartment - also in the building are a vinyassa yoga studio, a ballet studio, kids karate, a Western Sizzler and a bunch of hair and nail salons....the ballet studio is next door so for many saturdays a year going back over 6 years I often hear classical piano music filtering thru the wall as there is a ballet class at the same time as the yoga class saturday mornings - so I always know I am in Thailand when relaxing at the end of class in the darkened studio in savasana when I hear the music - its quite nice......
have a great Sunday, Jimmy

He does share so nicely. As you know my son is very introverted when it comes to his parents. He will hug us and kiss and talk...but that is on the rare holiday.
Oh, thank you for sharing this peek into your son's yoga life. How neat is this!? To have such a wise and soulful son who wants to share his loves with others. You must be very proud. :-)
p.s. I could also feel his very centered presence through the words. Breathing space....xo
I know his news "makes your day"....as my mama always said...
Tabor, Jan and Beverly - On this rainy day - kind of nice to share and receive your comments.
I like the mental image of the bamboo plants on the balcony tossing in the wind and rain, while indoors the people were calm and graceful. Thank you for this glimpse from the other side of our beautiful planet.
I so glad you were willing to share the note from your son. It was such a relaxing review of his time spent doing yoga with students and friends. I couldn't help but breath slowly and deeply and spend a few minutes totally relaxed. This dark day needed that little space of refreshment.
Aisling and Cloudhands, thank you so much for your comment. It pleases me so much to receive letters from my son. I feel apart of his journey!!
his sharing of self tells me as much about YOU as it does about him. sometimes children don't open themselves to parents when they have felt criticized or in some way unaccepted, as if their own dreams were not acceptable. there is no more valuable gift than unconditional love and acceptance. no guilt, just love. sounds like you have done an excellent job communicating that along the way. your love and pride in him have been evident to those of us who read your comments about him.
as you know i have been quite impressed with this young man since i first read one of his letters. it is soooo nice to know that you allow him the space to experience life as he chooses without feeling guilty about you so far away and missing him. love creates love, doesn't it? karma...
good for you and good for him for making this wonderful life for himself! living in a space where classical music seeps inside sounds delightful! thsnks so much for sharing, ernestine. :)
Sky, thank you so very much for your kind comments. My relationship with my son has been very special and dear. My daughter's the same - only - mom will not go into this. There have been some rough times. Maybe that is the way with mother's and daughter's. Have a good day and your friendship is special to me.
