Old Friends

The Begonia has been in her possession for over 20 years. It is on the screen porch when weather warms and inside in the winter. It has traveled in her car from home to home.

Many have commented on how large and pretty it is and she has always offered to share a cutting.

Over the years she has thought of re potting - but never has. It is so beautiful, big and packed in the pot - she does not want to risk hurting it. She may start some new plants from it soon.

The Orchid has been sitting by a window for about 12 years. She held it in her lap moving it to this home. Now it sits on a stand in the loft area. She wondered would it like this new area. At the moment it is full of buds but she cannot tell the outcome.

Her plants have come and gone but these two special plants have never left One Woman

Now she is waiting to be over this antibiotic and cough. The sun just came out - good!!

I wish I had your green thumb!!! :)

I hope the antibiotic starts doing its job soon and you feel better.

Love you...!

Keep at those antibiotics. I have never had luck with orchids and have, in the past, has some lovely begonias.

I have never tried begonias. Yours is beautiful! I am down to only one house plant. I think I have a fairly green thumb when it comes to outdoor gardening, but I don't seem to have the same skill with house plant.

I know what you mean by "old friend." My plant (I don't even know what it is) has moved with me for twenty seven years. My kids always look for it in old pictures. I've repotted it a few times, and it always smiled at me with pleasure as it got used to its new digs. This last move, however has been a challenge of lighting and irregular heat and my "old friend" is worse for the wear. Droopy and sad, like some of my newly senior human friends it seems tired and maybe depressed. Any advice?

Jamie, you can do it - if you had time. I pass on to you "my green thumb". Also my begonia - but I think the dogs would eat it.
Tabor, the orchid came from Lowes and after this move I will see if it bounces back.
Aisling, I know you can do it.
Lonely Rivers, you just put a needed smile on my sickly face. At the moment I might be one of the friends you describe. I am not depressed - thankful, want to feel better and awaiting the warmth of Spring.

I'm sorry you have been coughing. It really can make sleep difficult. I hope you are better now.

You do have a green thumb. A sunny window helps.

Darlene, thank you - I want to feel good again!!! My loft area has a lot of sun - when it is shining.

ernestine, i do hope you are back in the saddle again soon. don't know if you have a lot of congestion, but if so mucinex might help. we each took it with our antibiotics (and 2 more doses each day), and it loosened up the congestion for us both, thank goodness.

love the plants. out orchid is just not very happy right now!

Sky, I looked for an email address and could not find one. I still do not feel well. Better then I did. I am taking Musinex. Everyone keeps sharing that this hangs on for weeks. I will go to doctor end of week if the congestion is still like it is.
Years ago with something like this I had to take 2 rounds of antibiotics. Hopefully not.
Feel like I am complaining - please forgive - but guess a number of online friends have become like family.

Your flowers are beautiful and it looks like you have the perfect spot for them next to the window. I hope you are feeling much better by now. It is supposed to rain here all week. I could use some sunshine but I am not complaining! Tomorrow is National Hugging Day so I am leaving you one a day early. Hugs, Judy

Judy, thank you for the hug. I felt it over the miles.
Will feel better when the sun shines "I hope".

I understand the friends our plants become. I have had a big plant for years. It is outside in the summer and inside in the winter. I got so tired of it one day I put it out when we had really frigid temps. After about an hour, I rescued it. It is back in the den, in my way, but, still my friend.....

Beverly - I have done the same thing and usually bring them back in the house. Sometimes they make it and sometimes they do not.
Thank you for your online friendship.
I love the picture of you on your header. A beautiful young woman

My dear, do get well soon. And yes, aren't the plants that have traveled with us, lived with us, our old and patient friends.
