Another May Day

Rhododendron is blooming and I think the bud is as lovely as the bloom.
2 were planted 4 years ago but only one made it...
Early this morning the work began
for vehicle area, small walk to front with a small area for me to put a chair.
Did not plan on this but the view is beautiful during all seasons and since workers are here
just carried on with something I had thought of.  .  Will enjoy the walk or path
instead of stepping stones and much safer.
Did not plan on doing anymore of this type of work at the special cottage but this is where
hopefully I can remain the rest of my days.   Thoughts surface of retirement home near my youngest
daughter if I come to that - but hopefully not if I can stay as active as now, change some of my
lifelong habits, rest more and age gracefully :)

The workers arrived very early since another 90 degree sun day is expected.  I was approached
and handed a 4 leaf clover and it made me smile as I think of it as a good luck omen.  Mermories
of my mother surfaced as she
could look down into the grass any day and spot a number of these.   Not this one as I have found very few.

You are so gently wise about life and its changes. You try to make accommodations for age, but you and I both know that we are not totally in charge and we can only hope for the best. Your son has given you that wisdom.

OHMYGOSH! My Mother too!! It always amazed me how she did that--just walk along and all of a sudden look down and reach other to pluck the clover. I have to search and search and then, rarely find one. I did a garden chore today that I haven't been able to do in 5 years and it just amazed me. Sure the pain came in the back and the heart beat a little faster, but.....I would much rather die and do a "face plant" in my garden, then waste away in the old folks home. Keep on, keeping on. Can't wait to see the finished parking area.

Your rhododendron is gorgeous. We've been here seven years - transplanted three rhododendrons out of the wind and near the woods six years ago and they haven't bloomed yet. Good idea about a parking area closer to your house. One of the first things we did was make the path from the driveway to the house safer. We have to be able to trust our pathways are safe when the weather turns nasty.

Tabor, Judy and Sharon, this early morning thank you for your pleasing words :)

I hope you have pressed that clover. I remember as a child how when we found one, my momma would put it inside a book to dry and press and then we would carry it in our Bibles.

Your rhododendron is beautiful. Having no luck with them at all, I finally gave up on them. I am sure you are going to enjoy the new parking area and walking path. I need to go out and find a 4-leaf clover...a bit of luck around here would be nice!
