May I Ask - What Do You Eat ?

This was yesterday...

Breakfast - Old fashion Oates with chopped apple, raisins, walnuts, brown sugar and milk.  1 mango and 3 cups of green tea.

Later - An Ensure - for several years this is an addition during the day.  Sometimes make a smoothie
with yogurt, fruit and soy protein powder.

Lunch - Potato soup (with addition of last two garden turnips, chopped carrot, celery, garlic and onion) with chopped collard greens and bacon on top. Fruit tea and  two orange cookies with milk

Later a sundae with vanilla ice cream and warm Carmel sauce.   If I do not have this then I have several pieces of candy or some nuts.

Evening Meal - same potato soup, fruit tea and small piece of chocolate cake

Now this looks sufficient to me.  Scale has not budged off of 108 lbs in several years. I do not want to lose anymore.  Over the last few years I have lost
5 lbs and cannot seem to gain them back.  In my younger years I always gained 4 or 5 lbs during Christmas holidays - not anymore.   Might add that my son who teaches Yoga in Thailand, tells me that most of his female students are small like his mom and he thinks my weight is fine for 5 ft 2...

Youngest daughter reminds me that my portions seem small to her :)

All of this plus a handful of supplemental vitamins and a blood pressure pill

I want to stay healthy through these "old" years.

I miss so much walking and working outside, the cold weather bothers me to much to walk outside and after all I do inside do not feel like driving to local town to walk on indoor track - Spring I can hardly wait for you to return.

Oh, 3 or 4 nights a week when I wake up at midnight I will have a cup of hot chocolate or yogurt :)

Now soup would have been complete if I had made my 1/2 pan of cornbread  - finally mastered half
my recipe that is real good...it took a while - using my mother's small iron skillet.

Sorry.... my previous comment dropped letters here and there. The potato soup looks fabulous, and having seen your cornbread, I am off to make a skillet of it for lunch

I have exactly the same thing you have under "later". I admit I don't eat very healthy. Half a sandwich for lunch, a Lean Cusine for supper and that delicious sundae or chocolate candy. Last night for supper I had popcorn and milk--sounds weird, but is a treat that generations of our family had for supper every Sunday night--something about the saltiness of the popcorn with the milk--love it!

Fine post today, healthy, good foodie ideas, including garden goodies.

I think you eat very well. Your eating seems to match your life. You are moderate in the pleasure and full force in the work ethic. No slacker. You are sensible and spiritual and open to new things.

Happy Day and Night. Thank you, for sharing! It was fun.

Yum! Your soup looks delicious! I also like cornbread with soup. It seems you eat much healthier than I do, and oh my goodness you must be a little slip of a girl like my daughter. I'm much taller but still try to keep my weight down.

I hope you have a wonderful day! :)

What a wonderful healthy plan. It would seem to me that adding in some breads would help with not losing weight. My breakfast is the same as yours, and often I do substitute a smoothie like yours.
I may borrow your idea and make some potato soup. It is a good palette for adding other veggies.
It is so hard to get motivated to be outside in the cold weather. Right now the only free time I have is when it's dark. Soon!

Wow. I am hungry now. My wife of 56 years just fried some skinless and boneless chicken breasts last evening for supper and my stomach is growling as I type. Not as good as chicken used to be in the old days when they were fried to a crisp golden brown in real lard, but second best.

A.L. - I agree . I remember the chicken my grandmother and mother fried - wonderful. I even would cook them in early years of marriage and we would take on picnics. It was so tasty. Cannot get that taste anymore.
May be the chickens are mass produced. My grandmother would by one from a cart that drove down her street. I remember and I must have been 7 or 8:)

Breakfast every morning is sausage, egg, Cheerios/lactose free milk.
Mid-morning snack~peanut butter/crackers
Lunch today~homemade chili/Mexican cornbread, small serving of ice cream, three miniature Hersheys ;)
Afternoon snack~small bowl of popcorn
Supper~will be more chili I suppose and a banana.
My scales don't budge either but I do wish they'd slide down! I get lots of outside work to do; it must be too much computer time! I used to weigh 100 lbs~years ago!

Hi,
We have oatmeal with br. sugar, walnuts, raisins or prunes, skim milk an orange and toast for breakfast most days.
We have our big meal in the early afternoon. Lots of veggies and fruits, salads soups, stew, sometimes casseroles.Meat, chicken, fish a few times a week.
In the evening we have a snack of popcorn,or 1/2 a sandwich, or sardines and crackers, or cheese and crackers.
I make a smoothie sometimes with a bottle of ensure added. Lots of fruit including a banana, yogurt,oj and other things left over in fridge. We have this for breakfast sometimes.
I really don't care for ice cream, so we have puddings and jello once in a while.
I drink lots of water. My blood tests came back saying that I was dehydrated. So, having only one kidney...I have to watch this.

I think you eat very sensibly. You get a lot of nutrition in those soups that you put together.

I remember being in the ER and hearing a doctor talking to the lady in the next stall. "What do you have for breakfast?" he said. She said, "Tea and toast." He said, "Oh, you're one of those tea and toast ladies. I want you to drink a can of ensure everyday with your tea and toast." He told her that she was starving herself....and no wonder she fell...she was weak.

This was a very interesting post.

Balisha, you eat very similar to me. But I do love ice cream and yogurt. Recent bloodwork shows low potassium - told my high inflamation uses it up. I drink plenty of water and always carry with me when I leave in car.
Trying to stay healthy doing all I know. Wish I had a better appetite.
Thanks for sharing.
Charlotte, we also eat similar
but I usually have an egg and slice of bacon or sausage once or twice a week. Take care :)
