A September 20th Day

Early mornings are a delightful 50 degrees and then in a few hours it begins to climb onward to 90. Living close to the woods brings the advantage of being slightly cooler and usually a delightful breeze.

Many hours for several days have been spent working outside. Flowers and herbs surroundings Woodhaven still have a lot of summer beauty.

The nature path in the woods is finished. I am so pleased. There have been weeks of raking, branches removed, root stubble's cut and path swept:). I can walk under the towering trees - deeper into the woods and have checked out an area that I remember last Fall. After a rain some of the wild ferns will be transplanted closer to my cottage. This path will be walked often at dawn and later in the day. Callie always my companion.

The quiet and peacefulness in the woods is almost breathtaking. The towering tree's a delight for One Woman to behold.

I smile when I think of my son viewing his mom's handiwork. I can remember his comment for me not to clear the woods. When he visits he will see it is just a path :) All of my children love to walk and hopefully they will help keep this path clear.

"I never found the companion that was so companionable as solitude. We are for the most part more lonely when we go abroad among men then when we stay in our chambers"

~Henry David Thoreau~

great photos! i want that screened porch so much.

hard to believe it is still cimbing into the 90s in the south. maybe transplanting will be more successful if you wait not only for a rain but also for cooler weather. i am excited that we are going to have 3 sunny days this week, but our sunny days are in the high 60s - may climb to 70. our friends in GA are very weary of the hot weather and are ready for a break.

do you ever see snakes on your walk?

Sky, I have never seen a snake here. Also see no wildlife. In the evening I see the deer and wild turkeys and do not know where the birds are hiding out. Thanks for dropping in.

I love your woods..It will be so pretty with ferns growing near the cottage. I'll bet you get a lot of use out of that porch. So pretty.

oh how beautiful. what a blessing to live in such a place...to have the strength and determination to clear a path...your own path. I hope one day to be able to look back and say...I worked hard, I prepared a path that is truly my own...for this path you have tended is more than the earth you walk upon...it is one your soul travels on daily.

I love the idea of a path in the woods, one you have created that did not exist before. Enjoy the colors as they appear in this beautiful season of autumn ~

i love that path through the woods so much. I did that once myself, many, many years ago--too me all one summer, but I ended up with a nice trail through the woods. your home is lovely.
