A New Year Begins

Yesterday
I vowed to write less
and here I am at my computer
this early morning of a new year
writing.

So many encouraging emails
I found.

Among them....

One from my son

"Waking up this morning, I smile.
Twenty four brand new hours are before me.
I vow to live fully in each moment
and to look at all beings with eyes of compassion"
Thich Nhat Hanh
Next I read some one's sharing
about choosing a word for this new year
and I choose
the word
"RELEASE."
This has to be done for this one
once and for all.

Next I share from my Jamie's blog

and soon I will share about new mixer that arrived late yesterday
Oh the size of the box and
so heavy.
Finally it sits on my counter,
looks so pretty,
just my color and
reminds me of nature.
I wonder
can I learn how to use
or am I better off with
a small hand mixer :)

Computer off
and a cold day by the woods
begins.

Please go ahead and practice using that new mixer. And also please don't cut down on the time you post. I so look forward to reading them.

That mixer is great for the heavy doughs or if you got the bread hook...good for breads. I have used mine for decades. Glad your new year has begun with such good thoughts and spending a little time on the computer sharing with all of us out here is a good thing!!

I trust you enjoy a good mixture of pleasures in this year.

You will learn to love that mixer. Leave it out on your counter, so you don't have to carry it. It will sail through thick mixtures without any problem. You can do other things while it mixes,

My word last year was simplify....and for the most part I did just that. Think I may use release this year too. I have several issues that I should work on....release a good word.

Happy New Year my friend.

I bought myself a mixer just like that last year and I love it. I keep it on the counter top all the time as it is too heavy to lift. My husband's favorite oatmeal cookies are too thick for my arthritic hands to stir, but my kitchen aid does it easily. I also got one for my daughter-in-law and daughter. Since they are younger than me, they will have a longer time to enjoy using theirs. And please don't slow down writing. That is one of the most important things that you do.

Sallysmom, Tabor, Anvilcloud, Balisha and Luan,
thank you for visiting - it continues to be very cold here by the woods :)

On a cold day

by the woods,

the cuisinart kettle,

in old shining silver,

sits on the counter,

dedicated to the beverage

warming inside,

its spout

in wordless request,

beseeching the new kithchen aid.

"I know you are BIG,

you are powerful,

you knead,

but you dont need my hands,

you mix,

at a speed that flummoxes me,

but would you

please push that huge teacup

this side,

so i can pour Ernestine

a wonderful hot cup

of mint tea ?"

A swirl of steam from the spout,

and the kettle sighs.

How do you get

powerful types to listen ?

You will love the mixer....just like mixers from 40 years ago that I got when I first married. You will be baking up a storm... I like the thought your son emailed you this morning. I do not know if you get my comments because I leave them here on the blog, but always get an email saying the email has failed. Do you have a new email? Send me an email and I will know I have the current one.... Love you, Beverly
