Wise Words

This wonderful weather
like, 60 degree mornings
and balmy sunny days
pushed me to the limit on Saturday.

You would think by this advanced age
 I would have
learned how to pace myself?
Not so and it resulted in an overtired body
and several sleepless nights.

Always the right Words arrive
from over the Ocean....

"regarding lawn and woods maintenance - in my opinion
it is eternally fun to always try to strike a balance
between lots of growth, trees,
and nature nearby and doing some cleaning.
Remember
 to pace yourself  -
just because it is cooler - no reason
to do everything in one day or one week.

So true, I know it
but thank you always for reminding your mom...

~~Skillful Speech~~

Silence offers us and those around us,
the spaciousness we need to speak more skillfully.
When we speak with greater skill, our true self,
our compassionate, loving self, emerges with gentle ease.

So before you speak, stop breathe and consider
if what you are about to say
will improve upon the silence.

~~Allan Lokoa - Soulful Speech ~~

I love silence, the sound of it, the feel of it, the essence of it.

Wisewebwoman, I totally agree :)
A lot of silence in my world here
by the woods and it so appreciated and needed..

Oh dear, by now you know I just blow hot air into the universe with my rambling. I do want to tell you to take it easy. We have so many sixty degree days ahead there will be time for everything you need to get done before winter sets in.

Lynn, thank you. Wish I was not like this. When feeling good I go nonstop, love what I am doing, but now older it sure wipes me out - totally...

I know the feeling ~ I go gun-ho to get something done, then suddenly feel exhausted. We should just learn that these things will wait for us. I keep wondering, when will I get to "retire"? Maybe a farmer's work is never done?

yes, you should know better than to wear yourself out.
On the other hand, only you know what you can do;
I am a firm believer in allowing people to go their own sweet way.

Charlotte and Friko, I am still learning - just when I feel good it is very very good and when I feel bad - it is very very bad :)

There was a little girl

By Henry Wadsworth Longfellow 1807–1882 Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

There was a little girl,
Who had a little curl,
Right in the middle of her forehead.
When she was good,
She was very good indeed,
But when she was bad she was horrid.

We are so glad there is still a little girl in you. There has to be balance. For a blog that was supposed to reflect silence, this coming to terms with our successes and frailties is most enlightening. Our minds are strong, our bodies give out in our exuberance to accomplish what used to be a cakewalk. It isn't tired we feel, it's bone weary after a hard days work we tackle. No wonder we question. That little girl can still tap, just not as fast. Love you.

Ernestine, I've just done some catching up on your posts. As always, I love your touch: the lovely pictures of plants, your wonderful meals, the gracious way you have of sharing your world. I love this quote about words and silence. yes, I will keep that one in mind! I am hoping your granddaughter finds her rightful place in the Big Apple. Take care of yourself.
