OH MY WORD that picture of my with the chicken. That's Henrietta, by the way. ;) Those white knee socks...oh my. I am glad I have better fashion sense now.
flowerlady and sharon, thank you for visiting. My Jamie, I think you look beautiful. Yes, styles have changed - bet you would not dress the little girls like this :)
beautiful, grand, southern home where you and your youngest lived. reminds me a bit of the historical home my parents renovated in the 60s. it, too, sits on a large acreage estate, and i understand the draw the land has, the privacy and solitude it offers. we still love swinging in the front porch swing and rocking in those big porch rockers. i miss the southern architecture so much here in the PNW where most homes lack that kind of charm and beauty. looks like you, a born city girl, took quite well to the country! your daughter is so very talented, and i always enjoy reading her blog. you must be quite proud of her (and she of you!). the pic of her with her chicken is adorable!

This made me smile and brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful legacy you have given your children, Ernestine.

Warmed a mama's heart...I know it did...it did mine.
Oh E,
I just read her post...beautiful! Not surprising, considering her Momma's ability to express her heart with honesty, compassion and grace.
Beverly and LauraX, thank you so much for your kind comments....
