Wednesday is Grandma's Day

My youngest granddaughter is with me on Wednesday. So it is a busy day. I have been busy scrubbing her bedroom rug. One I gave her last year and mom seemed to think I could clean it better then her. Early in the morning you can begin to feel Fall in the air and all of my plants are beginning to fade. I have hundreds of zennia's and early each morning have been deadheading and saving the blooms to continue to dry for seeds for next years garden. In my area as the morning progresses it quickly becomes very warm.
Too warm for me to be out in the garden.
This early morning I am continuing to practice my image skills.

I still have an abundance of flowers in bloom. The large bloom is a surprise from a home that was being sold, not far from my new cottage. It was sad to see the deteriorating gardens and I could see through my eyes that this was once a special sanctuary to the lady that is now in a nursing home. I bought the freezer from this home and the son took his shovel and gave me a clump from a plant that turned out to have this bloom yesterday morning. This came about because I shared how much I loved gardening and wanted to walk through the old garden. I could see the brick paths, the many areas where this lady had once worked in the earth. What is sad is that this home will be sold, torn down and ground escavated for a new home. The old gardens will only be a memory for those who once viewed them.

My basil is going full speed and my Knockout Roses are still in full bloom.

Enough sharing on this very warm September afternoon

Hello Ernestine

Happy grandma's day. Hope you're having a nice time with your little granddaughter.

Your story about the next door garden is quite sad. I could imagine how the lady who's now in a hospice once enjoyed the beauty of her garden.

I am sure you are enjoying every minute with your granddaughter. She seems to be making biscuits with the playdough and her little biscuit cutter. I have one just like that. She is such a doll. I bet she loves the time she spends with you. The two of you are making beautiful memories together.

Jessi and Judy, thank you for your comments this morning. Yes, grandma's day is fun BUT tiring for me the next day. That is my bisquit cutter.

Hi Ernestine,

I watch this happening all over my neighborhood! It isn't that the houses need to be preserved but the yards are bulldozed over and landscapes are added that make no sense to the land! None the less it was lovely that the son passed on one of his Mother's plants. It is a beautiful flower.

Your granddaughters a cutie pie! I hope to be a grandma one day!

Your little sweetie is going to be a good cook like her grandmother. The play dough biscuits may not be edible, but the practice she is getting will help her make the real thing later on.

Oh, and I didn't even remember Grandma's Day.

Your granddaughter is a cutie, and how nice that she got to spend the day with you. I love it when my granddaughters visit, but always need a good nap after it. Guess I'm getting old.

Sad story about the lady's garden. Around here, you see old homesteads where no one lives anymore, but the jonquils and irises, and day lilies come up every year, and lilac bushes still bloom. And I think of the woman who planted them.

Our September is still quite warm as well, but I am in no hurry for fall, because although I love it, I don't love what follows.

Best wishes,

Renie

Rennie, I am wiped out today.
Yes it is tiring and I have both granddaughters on Sunday when parents go to football game. Maybe I can get them to take a nap with me LOL

I can't wait to be a Grandma!
Having a "special Day" is a good idea!
