Early Morning

"Give yourself and someone else the gift of space and silence"
Rumi

Preparing to bake and phone rings
a welcome call from Thailand.
Sharing of plans preparing for his move to 275 sf condo.
The norm for his area in the big city, families live in this space
and Sunday, N.Y. Times shared of new condo's being built with this square footage.\
in New York.

Oh my
what a challenge
but then we all have too much stuff....

Made pumpkin bread  at 7:00 this morning - it has been a while for this delicious bread
Still awkward using my upscale, pretty mixer :)
Something I use to do
and not in a long time
put a glaze on the 3 loaves of 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 tsp of lemon and almond flavor and 1/4 cup water
brought to a boil and poured over loaves.
I want to bake a lot over the next few weeks
and freeze some each time
for when my son is home with me...
A healthy breakfast
Mixed the last of mushrooms and spinach in my scrambled egg.
Next meal at about 2 or 3.  Two hearty meals a day suits this one
at this time of life.

Sun is shining and warmer today and tomorrow
hopefully I can move my truck out of ice.

Day begins with cleaning the kitchen...

What a lovely, colorful and inspiring meal, Ernestine! So pretty and that bread is beautiful. Wanted to tell you that I made your cornbread again this week. It is so good and Teddy loved it, too. That is such a good recipe and so easy to do in the cast iron skillet.
Good luck getting the truck off the ice. It is very cold here today but there is a little bit of melting as the sun is very bright. Going out for the first time in 11 days!

275 sq. ft. living space? I can't even imagine! I think my bed is larger than that, LOL. Hope the sun is shining brightly on your cottage today.

Such a pretty table you set for yourself. Those breads look delicious. I've been hankering for pumpkin bread.

Ernestine, do be careful going out to your truck! If need be, leave it there. We've had snow overnight, about an inch. Looking for baby chickens on Monday so it's back to work, but it's warm inside at least!

Charlotte, I have a neighbor coming over to try and move truck as I was unsuccessful and here all the roads are clear but not back here by the woods.
Barb, I love to set a pretty table for me and family :)
Marcia, Judy, Sallysmom
thanks to all for visiting.
I will have to bake some more of this bread - it is so good and have eaten 1/2 loaf.

Baking is so therapeutic, isn't it? The smell of something in the oven is one of the greatest pleasures in home life!Your breakfast looks very delicious. It's so important to set a pretty table for ourselves when we live alone! "We're worth it!"

I just watched a show on the benefits of eating mushrooms every week. They are finding them to be very beneficial. This was a presentation of a nutritionist on the show California Bountiful. I have added them to my weekly menu.

I like how you glazed the pumpkin bread. Where did you get your lovely tea kettle??

Shirley, it is a Cusinart
ordered from Amazon
years ago. They may still have it. I liked it because it looked old..
