February 1st - Robins

Eugene Gassett

A cold rainy evening for February 1
snow flurries in the morning
Looking out the window
I count 20 Robins in the tree outside my window

Wow! Good omen :-).

They'll be heading this way in a couple of months.

We seem to have robins here year round, but mostly in the city. Sometimes after a rain they will come to my front yard for the worms.

20 robins are a "round" of robins.

So may your months ahead be rounded in beauty.

Are they singing their wonderful territorial song yet?
I heard some today in my garden.

Pienosole, Anvilcloud, Tabor,
WWW and Friko,
this one is so ready for Spring.
No snow so far
but so cold and damp
brings on the aching :)

How lovely to see all those robins… last winter a flock came through and we didn't recognize them as robins, they looked a bit different than in the spring somehow. I've been thinking of you quite often too. I'm so glad you stopped by.
