It is the first day of November and I have robins in my front yard, and blue birds going in and out of the bluebird house.
There have been 3 heavy frosts, so I have been told. Sure could not tell it here under this canopy of trees.
I have roses in bloom and buds getting ready to open. Probably 50 Zinnias still blooming,
Ajuga, lavender and some yellow daisies still with blooms. Now they are not prize blooms but they have not gone into the winter mode. A beautiful fern on my deck is still in all of its glory. City garden is the same but it is almost an hour South of my woods cottage.
A little surprised at this time of year. It has been such a busy year that I cannot remember what happened other years. My mind "says" that the frost wiped out everything.
If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live a life which he imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours

There may have been hard frosts but not in your area...perhaps in the mountains to the north? I live about 300 miles north of you and we have not had a single frost...lowest has been about 45 C.
Tabor, You are probably right. Like I said "I cannot remember". Too much else on my mind. Wonder what our winter will be like?
The frosts here on the mountain have laid low all our flowering plants and I took my tender porch plants indoors just before the frost. I always hope for a little snow around Christmas, my Michigan roots need that emotional fix, but we are loving the more moderate winters we found here and hope for another. How nice for you to have a lingering late garden. Color in the trees as well as the forest floor.
I think your area has the seasons mixed up. It sounds like Spring.
There has been three mornings with frost here but I saw bluebirds in my yard today, too. I thought that was unusual. My flowers are gone though. Tomorrow, I will start on the leaves!
Darlene and Judy, thank you for checking in. Yesterday, I saw a butterfly in the yard!!
Cloudhands, I have Michigan roots.
