Storm Arriving

On a lighter note. Last week I did something I have never done before. As I left a store, I could not find my keys.I thought maybe I have left them in my truck and I carry an extra one in my purse so all will be well.

I was right - there they were in the ignition - horrors - my truck was still running - but door was locked. Good thing it was a quick trip.

Where was my mind? Too much on it "I think".

Anyway, I put a note on my dash - pause - take a deep breath, turn ignition off, remove key - remember.

Sent it to my son and he quickly replied "add - put it in park".

Your granddaughter must be a brave little girl. I am glad it did not hurt her eye. It stormed here this morning at 5 a.m. It woke me up it was so loud. I thought someone was trying to break into the house. We had high winds and pouring rain and severe thunderstorm warnings out. You son has a very good sense of humor. That is so funny!

So sorry about the stormy weather. I think it is almost over in your area. We are heading out to Asheville tomorrow...so I hope that the weather will be kind.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Oh, I have done that car key thing, too!
The storm photos are amazing...beautiful in many ways. Rain is coming our way, too.
Celebrate and hope Callie is feeling OK.

Hey, I left my locked car running with the keys in the ignition and I didn't have a spare. That was about 20 years ago so it can happen at any age. I just forgot what week it was (the story is on my blog); now that's scary.

Darlene, thank you. I thought am I losing it. Reassuring to know I am not the only one who this happened too.
Tabor, enjoy Asheville - I know the weather will be wonderful.
You will have great images to share.
Judy, yes Jimmy usually makes me smile.
Marcia, thank you and yes Callie is doing great. She is a prize.

I suspect the same storm swept through here earlier today. It has been followed by dark clouds but no more rain so far.
I've never locked my car with the motor running so I'm knocking on wood right now. Glad your story had a happy ending.
I can remember cars left in gear and rolling away as we got out. Cars don't do that so much anymore with all the safety features, but the advise to put it in park also made me smile.

It has happened to me, too. I always carry a spare too.

recently my husband left the van in "drive" with it running and ran into home depot. i was waiting in the van and noticed that it was not in "park" and had an anxiety attack! he sometimes has a tendency to move forward in his head, and i suspect when we arrived at home depot he was already inside the store in his head, looking for the item he sought. gotta stay in the moment. i am always concerned when i arrive home and have no memory of the drive i just made - lost in thought and doing it all by rote memory. not a good way to travel.

MY kindergarten teacher used to say: "Walk in the direction your face is going!" A bajillion years later I smile about this when I find myself in a "muddle" about something - such as completely losing my car in a parking lot! Mrs. Lawerence was pretty smart about teaching us to pay attention to things! Happy Birthday!

kenju and Sky - nice to hear that I am not the only one. It really unsettled me. Did not seem to phase my special son.
Cloudhands thanks for sharing.
