My Friend

The huge tree I pass going down my drive
This image does not do you justice
I know that this one could not wrap her arms around you.

When I pass you
the thought arises
what stories you could tell me and I wonder how old you are.

Wish you could talk and share with this ancient one.

Maybe we are both survivors
I know in my heart you have made it many more years
then I will.

That is fine
since you are a tree with sturdy roots
but this one
has been a survivor, a fighter all of her life
and will remain so
until the end.

I love trees so much, and often find myself giving them human characteristics. This tree really has long arms....A dancer I would think. So happy you have her beauty to enjoy.

Happy Thanksgiving, Ernestine!
