Gave Up

More snow and about 5 degrees in my woods

Heavy coat with hood
Insulated boots and gloves
Cell phone in pocket

Bucket filled with bird seed

One of her goals
Many birds visiting
4 feeders out of 7 filled

Gave up

Just too cold and
Too much ice

Unusual for this
One Woman to
Just give up

That cold zaps all the energy you have...it's coming our way tonight. You did well to get 4 filled!
A friend who visited on Monday has acquired little chains that go over her boots to prevent falls on the ice. They are pretty neat and seem to bite right in to ice.
Springs coming....we were supposed to get a huge snowstorm over night and the Cape turned to all rain. Whew....we have had enough.
Nature stops us and I'm working hard on enjoying the resultant dormancy. Peace to you!

Congratulations of filling four bird feeders.

Thankfully for you, there is the warm hearth of delight, and another day will dawn for feeding your friends.

Wishing you a special day. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Blessings.

Marcia and WM, thanks for visiting.
The ice and afraid of falling is what kept me from finishing my chore.

oh no, you did not give up...you gave out what you could and went home to rest...to care for your self...seems exactly as it should be...the birds will be so grateful for your generosity:) I hope you can find the same thanksgiving for your own wisdom...this was the most compassionate choice all the way around.

Dear sweet, LauraX, I felt guilty all morning. One never to feel compassion towards herself - maybe in these last years I can still learn :)

7? WOW--I have a hard time keeping 2 filled in this awful cold weather. We had sun today, but it only got up to 10 degrees.

Darlin', please be kind to yourself, there is no shame in having enough knowledge to come in out of the cold.

We love you, One Woman.

Blessings!

I went to the grocery for dill pickle slices and bird seed. I could not for the life of me remember what i wanted beside pickles, so when I went to fill the feeders, I thought, oh yes....I forgot!

Have you tried ice walkers on your boots? They are wonderful and give great traction and confidence on ice (however, they do nothing to keep the cold away!)

The birds used to the(now) unfilled feeders will flock to the filled feeders. Everyone will get something. As will you. No slips on ice. No guilt. Just a warm spot by the fire. A good book. And knowing you did what you could. Tomarrow you may be able to fill all 7 feeders!

You have more gumption than I do. I made a quick trip out for a few things Tuesday morning and haven't been out of the yard since ~ too much snow to contend with and no place I had to be. Somedays it's enough to be a part of the world within view. Today I'm headed out to get a dose of civilization. Stay warm, my friend ~

It was -3 here this morning. I am just staying in the house and eating myself to death. Made a big chocolate devil's food cake on Friday and am trying to finish it off in one weekend! Your muffins look wonderful. Glad they are not here. I would have to eat them, too, along with the cake. lol. Hope you are having a good weekend.

glad you are being mindful about precautions and taking care not to fall. good idea to stop when it is too icy. i know several people who have broken bones (hips and legs) in ice falls. be safe and warm!
