She is at loss for words. Or rather words to include on her journal.
She fell asleep for 30 minutes and then a phone call for about 10 minutes.
Callie is on the screen porch on her new bed!!!!!!!!!!
I just forgot how to smile, breathe and walk slowly.
But I know it will return.
One Woman's end to a perfect day!!!

So much for the new bed! Been there! Glad to see I am not alone in the now you see it now you don't world of pets! xo
oh, my! i remember a few days like that when my puppies were young. she probably wanted to be inside with you and was angry. looks like it, doesn't it? so sorry. on cold nights when you are going to bed and leaving her alone you might want to put her in a kennel inside so you won't worry. you could even leave her inside on cold days when you had to go out for a while if you had a kennel. i never kennel trained my dogs -after they were grown they never destroyed anything - but many people use kennels now. she might cry at first, but if you train her by letting her stay in it when you are in the room and leave the door open to it during the day, she may come to see it as her safe place and adjust.
good luck to you both.
Life Potential and Sky, all is well. Guess she did not like it when I was out of sight. At this time of life I am home most of the time and will just have to take one day at a time. May have to purchase a crate. Just did not want to.
Okay, a few suggestions:
For chewing, I think you said Callie was young, try buying some plain rawhides for her to chew on. Right now, with our Miss Rose that we adopted in September, we are having good luck with Purina Busy Rollhide which has something apparently flavorful in the middle. Since our sweetie is only 7-pounds you may have to look for a larger size so it lasts for a while.
If it's boredom, you might want to try a large size Kong. This hard rubber toy has a middle where you can put in a biscuit and it keeps the dog busy trying to get it out. It may take a few tries to get the right size biscuit so it can be removed and yet she has to work at it for a while.
There is also a toy that is a large cube with a hole in it where you put in some kibble and turn it a few times. The kibble is then "buried" in the internal maze and the dog has to keep flipping it around to get pieces of kibble out. (Maybe another reader can think of the name of this. I'm having a senior moment.)
If these suggestions don't work - they are best for dogs who are a little hungry or "will work for food", let me know. I'll try again.
I've haven't had to crate a dog yet...they have always had the run of the house. Like you, I am reluctant to suggest it for various reasons.
Huges/Williams - yes Callie is a year old. Have loaded up on some things you suggested. We will make it!!!!
Did she hang her head in shame? :)
How does she do with the Christmas tree? Try a Kong...like the other comment said. It really kept our dog busy.

One other thing. As Callie is a rescue, sadly she may not have ever had toys before.
If she doesn't seem to know what to do with the "chewies" you are trying, you may have to get her interest with scent. Try rubbing just a few drops of something like bacon grease on the end of one of the rawhides.
And tell her - with enthusiasm - what a "goood girl" she is when she is chewing on one of the toys.
