Could Anything Be Better On This Cool Day

Last night put a mixture of Pinto beans and White beans on to soak.
5:00 this morning they were rinsed and put low to cook.
Wanted to use my ancient small crock pot but could not reach on high shelf.

About 10:00 added a handful of chopped ham, a chopped potato, couple of chopped carrots
celery
and chopped onion.  At 1:00 made 1/2 recipe of my cornbread.

Second meal at 2:00, so good with ice tea and milk and one of my special cookies.
I am set for the day.

This is the way you eat in the country at the edge of the woods.

I tell my family
always remember
that I write from my heart and mind
which are fine
and not from this pain filled body....

The next time a younger person visits, have them reach the crock-pot and then put it somewhere you can reach--even if it has to be in the bedroom closet!!!
It all looks so yummy.

I agree with Judy. Time to make a list...lights needing changing, high shelf stuff needing brought down...anything. Just start making a list as you go through your day. Absolutely sad that you are facing such pain. Just not fair, except you have a forward looking attitude...so maybe a lesson for us all.

Tabor and Judy, thank you for always reading and commenting :)
I keep a running list but forgot to put the crockpot on it. Last Spring
stood on the stepstool and took it down was not comfortable doing that
this early morning.
With RA the pain is there, exhausted research on what is available and read
much sharing and like I have shared 98% of these are much younger, so I have
been lucky until age 78 could tolerate.

I like that you are up with plans and goals even though you are in pain. Eating such a delicious meal on a cool day at the edge of the woods must give you satisfaction. I'm unable to use "real" beans at my altitude - they just won't soak or cook soft, so I have to use canned. You've made me hungry for chili!

I am so sorry none of the newer meds have seemed to be an avenue of remission for you. :( Unrelenting pain is such a life changer in so many ways. On the other hand, you are determined to make the best out of your situation - I admire your tenacity and the determination you demonstrate to us all.

I have been in the mood for homemade veggie soup, and we have been eating ours for the past 2 days. It always becomes an obsession for me when fall arrives. Since we are having autumn rains, it is quite the perfect comfort food right now.

Keeping a list is the way to go! I have been known to ask neighbors and repairmen to fetch something I need when hubby is not around since I am short and uncomfortable climbing, too. Speaking of short - I am now losing height! Aging just seems to get us in every direction!

Soup and cornbread sounds perfect as we roll into autumn. We have been doing a lot of one pot meals in the crock pot while I put my cooking efforts into canning.

Hope this is a good week for you! Have you been reading much lately? I am hoping to read something wonderful this fall and am hoping for suggestions. :)

Your beans and cornbread look delicious. You always show us such wonderful meals.

Unrelenting pain can take such a toll on energy levels, stress levels, patience, and personality. I admire all that you are able to accomplish in a day. better to leave that crockpot right there on the shelf rather than to risk a fall.

I hope you had some good leftovers of your beans and cornbread to enjoy for another meal.

Best wishes,

Susie Donahue
