Some Special Days

From my son far over the ocean

From my oldest recently married granddaughter
14 blooms and 4 buds
From a special niece in Michigan
Grandma and her 2 youngest
grandchildren.  They spent the night with
me last night, a bad storm, no electricity
but were still here...

A dozen cards on my table

So much love shown me this day
and continues through the weekend

Guess this happens
when on this day
October 9
you were born to your teenage mother
at your grandmother's home,
weighing in at a little over 4 lbs.

Been a life of many chapters
21 years with your parents
22 years of marriage
that produced 4 wonderful children and 5 grandchildren
and included one little blond headed girl that came along with her father.
Now seemingly it seems
the rest of those years you
were on your own....
for this one who turned 80 today.

Will keep sharing and writing
until everyone gets bored with me....

You are loved and that is all that counts at the end of the counting the years!

We will never get bored with you. I didn't know it was your birthday until the other day. Now I know the date. Happy Birthday to one who lives in the woods and writes such beautiful things. You have a beautiful soul.
May the next year bring you good health and a lively interest in new things.

Happy Birthday! You are such a beautiful woman inside and out. Looks like love surrounds you, and the flowers make the house so cheerful, too, don't they? It's all so festive. Wow - who'd ever think you are 80?! I think you should sell your beauty secrets so all of us can cash in on the youthfulness! Hope you are having a grand time on your special day - CELEBRATE!

Beauty is all around and within you, and you send it into the world beautifully with your words and sharing.
Happy Birthday dear friend.....looks like there have already been some lovely celebrations. Many more to you!

Dearest Ernestine,

Isn’t the Internet a wondrous place?

Without your heartfelt blog postings, I would never have found you and made your acquaintance, because we live too far apart in the physical world. Yet, thanks to the electronic sphere, the constraints of physical distance fall away and become irrelevant. Kindred spirits can find one another and join in camaraderie across the miles.

I feel so blessed to call you a friend! Wishing you much joy in your celebration of this most meaningful event.

Sending love your way,
~ Elsie

Sending birthday wishes to you Ernestine! I think I'll remember the date; it is my second daughter's 51st birthday today. So, as the kids sing, "Happy birthday to you ... and many more."

Wishing you a great celebration of 1000 fullmoons ! When folks turn 80, here in India, we, the children, call all the near and dear ones, and do a "1000 fullmoons celebration" for the birthday person !

Here's a great celebration wish from someone far away !

A belated happy birthday. I so enjoy your blog. I come here every day and see how things are with you. I get some good healthy lifestyle tips. I found that bread Naan in our local Aldi's. Nice dipping bread with a hot cup of soup.

Happy Birthday and happy everyday to a woman who has inspired me everyday since the early days of both our blogs. Though I rarely write anymore on my own blog, and my comments to others are becoming infrequent, you are the neighbor I visit every single day. Your honest insistence on living a life of beauty and contemplation encourages me to appreciate the small details of everyday life. Your frustration with health issues, decisions to let some things go and your ability to openly embrace and share the ups and downs of an independent life make me want to sit with you and learn. Your photos and thoughts are part of my daily bread. I am nourished by your posts! Each birthday you celebrate is a gift to your readers. I look forward to checking in with you for years and years to come.

Hi Ernestine, I am sorry that I missed your birthday. I am woefully behind in reading the blogs of my friends. I am glad that you received so many beautiful flowers and messages on this special Zero birthday. (I had one of those earlier this summer--60.)
So, here are my birthday wishes: though belated, still carry goodwill and good cheer. Nancy

Need to come out of the closet as it has been an interesting life.
