AND THE RAINS CAME

Instead of answering some of the comments on my last post and emails - I will do so with this entry.

The rain started and it seemed as if it would never stop. I do not remember it ever being so heavy that I could not see through it. Ongoing lightning and constant tornado warnings. I do not do too well with conditions like this. Kept having thoughts - may I be in the best place as this escalating time goes by.

Maybe when it happens again - I can rent someone to sit in a chair and not speak unless spoken too:) lol

I really try to remain calm and maybe it is a losing battle. It was difficult to remain peaceful
even with meditation, prayer and yoga.

Electricity out for 16 hours and when it finally came on about an hour ago - this is what I learned.

Interstates are closed, most of Nashville is flooded, many without power, schools closed tomorrow.

I am fortunate that the street the city home is one did not flood. When I walked outside a minute ago - it looks like I am surrounded by a swamp. But no flooding or standing water near my woods home. The homes on either side of this property - the old farm house and another home I built years ago - have ponds and they look like lakes.

Enough shared. I am thankful that a week of sunshine is predicted and the saturated earth will dry. I am thankful to have electricity:) Thankful that when the road clears I can go to the grocery - it has been 10 days.

Thanks to all who expressed concerned for this One Woman.

Hope all is well in your corner of the world.

Oh my, what a time you have had. I think 'Rent a kind comfortable quiet companion' might just be a wonderful business for someone to create. There are so many times when we need that warm body nearby just for the shared experience during difficult times.
I hope you are breathing easier now that hopefully the weather reports are showing relief and sunny days ahead.

Cloudhands thank you. The whole area surrounding my youngest daughter's home is severely flooded. Schools closed and many businesses are almost under water.
I am almost ashamed - my home is dry and the birds are singing.

Sounds as it it was apocalyptic. We usually associate rain with something healing, but what you experienced was something completely different. I hope all gets better for those schools and businesses.

I have been so busy with little ones that I missed the terrible weather in the south. You were not alone it appears that many were swamped by the rain. Glad you did not loose trees, but be careful in the days ahead...especially with pines.

Hi Ernestine...I worried about you and others all weekend. So glad to hear that things are good in your woodland home.I was worried about Jamie too. I checked her blog this morning and it hasn't changed. These freaks of nature can test our faith...but why are there so many lately? Can't our world calm down a bit? Be safe...Balisha

We had flooding here in Memphis too, although most of it in the northern part of county. My son and his wife were on the banks of the Mississippi at Music Fest. The other son was thankfully home with his family. I had clothes on, cell phone in pocket, purse packed with dog food, and my heparin injections in my purse as the sirens blasted out for the third or fourth of the day. It pasted over...I get on pj's and go to bed not aware that another round came through at 1-2 am.... oops...slept thru it!!!
Glad you are ok...sorry about not electricity...better stop or I could have posted on my blog :) LOL
