Visitors

Almost dark
some of my visitors
came out of the woods
when I opened the front door
they stopped eating
in the wheat field
and just looked at me
so many of my visitors
are becoming accustomed
to me
the birds, squirrels, turkeys,
and the deer
wonder what else...

Do your visitors respect your flowers, shrubs, etc.?
My brother, who lives in town, has deer come up and eat his special ground cover.....
They are beautiful...

Ernestine,

Your words this morning first reminded me of an invisible reality- then later, and better, this:

"Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares."

Thank you.

Janell

Beverly, the deer have not come close to my home- just at edge of woods and in the crop field. Of course I have this is my second Spring so do not know what the future will bring. They are liable to be on the porch :) Janell, thank you for visiting.
Laura, as always thank you...

So lovely. Deer are one of the things I miss, now that I am living in the village. I do have squirrels and birds. :)

Your beautiful property makes wildlife feel welcome.

My husband just hung our first birdfeeder, and we weren't sure birds would find it. They have:)

You have a place to belong to. How lovely.

I, too wonder what else. Maybe all those difficult visitors are also becoming accustomed to you!

i love seeing the deer around here, too, but the deer who live nearby visit the gardens of everyone in the area and enjoy snacking on flowers and shrubs, especially roses and our weeping cherry tree! hubby places small plastic soap containers he has punched with small holes and filled with cougar doo (purchased from the local zoo) in strategic places in the gardens. the scent of a natural predator seems to work - they no longer jump our picket fence to snack. they sniff from the outside of the fence and move on!
