Reorganizing

Morning in the 50's
and wonder how long this pleasant weather will last.
3 loaves of Zucchini bread in oven.
A lot of cooking and baking done in this cottage
and there is so much less storage space then I have had in the past.

Cooking items that are only used occasionally are in the upstairs storage room.
Those I use daily and weekly in kitchen cabinets.
I either have to stand on a stool
or get on the floor to search for them.
So...this morning I took many of them, put them on the counter
in utility room and they will be very handy for me and also visiting children.
Another plus, I have more room in my cabinets.

I always liked this counter empty except for cookbooks that have been drastically
downscaled.    It is now full and will see how I like this.  Also wish I had planned this room
with all open shelves.   The end open shelves had doors and I recently removed them :)

Do know lately  when I am on the step stool
I do not want to fall and when I am on the floor it is getting more
difficult to get up quickly.   Never like this in the past....

Looking at this image
there is still too much stuff
in this cottage...

Stuff, really gets us. We want to keep it because we know we will need it someday, but I am sure you use it less often and you wonder why you have it!

I like to keep things handy now days. With two of us...we each want different things handy which makes sort of a cluttered look. When I go into a home with a very neat kitchen and nothing on the counters...I always wonder how much cooking goes on there.I get rid of packaging as soon as I come home from the store. Things go into plastic and glass containers for storage.
The things on your counter look like things that a cook would use all the time. I do love your light cabinets.

Oh my. I couldn't live with a counter like that. I do have stuff on mine, but lots of working space. I would love a bite of your zucchini bread. I miss my Toronto zucchinis and all the loaves I would freeze. I made mine with walnuts, do you?

Well, I am glad that you have it out in a way that will make it easy for you to find and use. Do not risk falling. A big no-no. As usual, everything looks just lovely to me!

Tabor, :)
Balisha, we are the same in many ways. My kitchen counters have my baking things handy and tea kettle is always ready to be plugged in.
Thank you for visiting.
WWW, yes I use a cup of chopped walnuts, wish you were near I would give you a loaf :)
Mel, thank you for visiting once again....

funny we are doing just the opposite - i'm changing out our shelving in the pantry room to shelving which will have doors and pull-outs. then the items stored are not visible when the door to the pantry is open, and dust is not an issue. our wooden pantry shelving is deep which requires me to move items for access which i don't like. pull-outs will make everything more easily accessible. i, too, keep items there which i don't use as much - the slow cooker, double rotisserie, juicer, the larger food processor, etc. climbing on stools and getting down on the floor are no-nos here! nothing in a cabinet or the pantry is worth a fall. glad you are resolving that.

I just had the dish washer removed and had 3 deep drawers installed. I will be able to put the pots and pans I use the most in there. Now I won't need to get down on the floor to look for them. I might even have a cabinet changed out to drawers.

I can't get down on the floor to search my lower cupboards anymore. When sister or someone visits, I ask them to find a certain pan or container for me--I hate that having to ask. I still like my counters cleared--it will start to drive you crazy to see all that stuff in a couple of weeks, LOL. Whatever works is how we have to live now!!

I'm just happy and you're home and well enough to enjoy baking in your home sweet home. :) I love zucchini bread too. It is, indeed, soooo much nicer now that the heat wave has passed.

Best Wishes, ♥
