Birthday Day

A beautiful day
Began at 30 degrees
cold, crisp, no wind
and then wonderful sunshine
and 60 degrees.

Youngest, My Jamie arrived
with my two youngest grandchildren.
Visiting, lunch, pumpkin patch, turnip greens picked
 and
just time together.

A good day
a lot of phone calls and emails.

As time goes by and I post
do not like
sharing
health issues
but it will probably surface from time to time.
Sjogrens and the body filled with inflammation
is making a difference in my quality of life.
Sometimes walking with a cane
has not been me
but guess it is now.

Prednisone was started yesterday for 10 days
as a starter  and held off
as long as I could.
It Is making a difference in 24 hours
 and hopefully this
is just a 2 or 3 times a year procedure.

Wanted to share the happiness of my day
and also some issues that are going on in my life.

It could be so much worse
ever thankful
it waited until late 70's
but am having difficulty accepting what is going on
at this time in my life.

Smile when you look at the happiness on these faces.

If one must use a cane . . . go buy one of your heart’s desire . . . something stylish to fit your personality. I doubt much will slow you down ~ you will find new paths within your capabilities. Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday:) I have a friend who uses a cane when she needs it, which isn't often, but it makes a big difference in how confident and safe she feels when getting around. Take care of yourself, and take life one day at a time ~

I know that you love poetry, so I found a poem for you on this special occasion. Happy Birthday to my blogging friend...

In Praise of an Older Woman, by Gordon Gilbert

In her green youth

Spring was in her step

The fragrant scent of flowers bright

Enchanted and seduced all men

As her beauty blossomed

Past spring’s green age of folly now

Before leaves fall

As fall leaves us

To winter’s stark bare limbs

And memories of younger seasons

Her fall foliage commands our admiration

Imperiously demands appreciation

Of a wiser, seasoned season

As fall nips the air

And her green leaves

Oh, the colors wonderful

Of red and purple, orange and rust

That always lay beneath

And come to light

Exposed now

In her fall!

Prednisone will help with the inflammation--I know you don't like to take medicine. Perhaps, later, a milder steroid every morning might help?

What a lovely time....and I hope that nice visit (and the Prednisone) have brought some ease to your flare up. Wishing you more wonderful days!
Glad you're enjoying my trip. It really was amazing beyond what even the pictures convey.

Ernestine, I am finally doing a little catching up with your posts. I continue to be overwhelmed in my own life, but know that things will eventually lighten up so that I can visit and comment here more regularly. I always love seeing your beautiful pictures and your words, always so touching. I started to turn off my computer after being online briefly this evening, but something absolutely compelled me to check in on your site. And I am so glad I did. I am one day late, but I want to give you a happy birthday wish. I hate to hear that the your physical process continues to be very challenging, but I so appreciate your sharing. Know that I am thinking about you and sending you a hug, a big hug, from Florida.

For some reason my original comment printed twice, so I deleted one -- only -- not the whole thing, apparently. Oh, well! Hope this one prints only once.
