On Another Hot Day

Second meal assembled
bed of mixed greens, cucumber, tomato, asparagus, bacon and topped it with a fresh country egg,
s and p and a drizzle of olive oil with my sweet tea (which I had not made in weeks.)
Yesterday appointment with doctor with good news and bad news but then what I already knew.
I was hoping with all of my good habits this health issue would just disappear.
All blood work wonderful but Rheumatoid Arthritis, Sjogrens, etc - is not going to go away and will probably become worse as
time goes by.  So I must take pain medication prescribed (which I have not been doing) for the
pain and no sleep nights. Was told to continue the healthy lifestyle I lead but be careful and do not fall.     I will continue yoga, good nutrition, more rest. gardening, walking and continue onward.   I will continually share that I am so thankful that the level of what I am
experiencing did not begin until age 77.   So I have so much to be thankful for...

After appointment market stop purchasing - 1 tomato, cucumber, sweet onion, mixed greens, asparagus, turnip greens,
cherries, fresh mozzarella cheese, yogurt, oranges, bananas, 1 mango, almond milk and some yogurt bars -  headed back to the country.

I might add that some doctors have suggested new treatments
Having no part of them with their side affects, cost and no improvement.
This is what it is
and I am not 50 years of age...
So happy
I have a good mind...

I am in awe of what you can accomplish in a day! I have Sjogren's also. Erosive Inflammatory Arthritis, Graves Disease and Addison's Disease. I have had Sjogren's for (8) years. This is the short list :( I cannot do what you do. I am 53 mother of two. Just turned in February. I love to visit your blog every day. I love to see what you have done. Even the meals you have prepare.

I LOVE. YOUR. GARDENS. I no longer have gardens. I can't handle them. You just keep doing what you
can. You are doing great! Be careful though, out there with the flora and fauna. Take
breaks when you need them :) You know what I mean.

Thanks for taking the time to blog. I look forward to it.

Bobbie, you bless me with your email and I am sorry for what you are dealing with at your young age. I have always pushed and been a fighter and if I stop now
I cannot carry on. I will be doing one addition to this post in the next few days.
You can email me and share what medications you are on. I now am not going that route anymore, wearing me down. I will pray for you and again you will never
know what your sharing did for me. Sjogrens arthritis always but the dry eyes and mouth come on and off. At the moment I want so to read and my eyes are bothering me. I will not go to eye doctor again as they want to keep changing glasses and this is too costly - I just go with stronger readers at times.

Your meals ARE inspiring. I'm sorry you didn't get all the good news you might have hoped for, but having a good mind IS a huge blessing. Having the "eyes" to see that and a thankful spirit is a big percentage of holistic approach to health!

I don't know how I have missed that you have RA, but this was news to me. My sis-in-law has RA (as do 3 of my friends). My sis-in-law is doing fabulously well compared to one of my friends who has had it for 40+ years when treatment was much different and her joints suffered major damage before the newer drugs became available. The other 2 friends have had it for about 20 years each. Both are doing ok. One had a few episodes of major inflammation which limited her mobility quite a bit during her initial diagnostic period, but eventually this subsided and life returned to normal activity and pace. The newer meds they have been on seem less harmful in the long run than the older ones were and have been a true blessing for my SIL, for sure. I don't know much about the meds though.

I guess someone along the way has shared with you that sugar can significantly increase inflammation in our bodies? Even knowing that, it is hard to walk away from things we love.

As you say, there are so many things to be grateful for so ultimately those should be our focus. You seem to be doing well right now, and I hope this continues. As we age, we'll always have some kinks to straighten out! Aging is just a huge challenge, for sure.

Your garden is lovely, and I am so glad it brings you such joy! We share that. My mother gave me that gift in childhood, and it remains. Your food is healthy and beautiful to see in your photos. And, the yoga has to be very good for you - keeping your body stretched, your muscles flexible and strong, your breathing deep, and your mind centered. Your son is a very good influence! :) Hugs to you.

I can't improve on Sky's lovely post except to add that you've collected genuinely strong relationships online as well which are very important ingredients for good mental health. Due I'm sure to your personality coming out through your generous and interesting blogs. You have worried about boring people in the past but life where you live is unique and different to life in, say, the UK. the other day I listened to a piece about Nashville and thought - that's interesting; I've got a friend who lives there. xx

Anne, have just come in from watering and filling bird feeders. Thank you for your kind words and yes those that comment on my sharing have all become so special to me. Not like this small community where all I was close to 40 years ago when relocating here are gone. The new ones have never connected with and the world is not like it use to be. Seems everyone stays to themselves and do not reach out.
In younger years the church was so important to me, involved much and taught but now I cannot go and very few reach out. Forgive me for my tale of woe :)
My 2 daughter's live in Nashville and I just cannot relocate as the simpler lifestyle is me at this time.
My Son just called and he is the best in the world...Enough shared
thank you again for your friendship...

Congrats on your good life style, you eat well, are active in a healthy way, and accepting of those things you cannot change. You are probably 10 years healthier because you did not ignore all the signs. I read your posts because they help me as I age. You are the example I want to be. You may have to change where and how you live, but you are smart and adjustable and will find the best compromise.

Oh Tabor, thank you. I feel as though I am not setting a good example for my
busy children. I think they are weary of hearing what is happening or has happened.
Guess I was the same way at their age.

At this age, no cure for any of our health issues.
We just "maintain" as best we can.
