Rain and Spring Arriving

Much rain in my area and I do believe more mud then ever in the past.
The long gravel driveway has almost disappeared and thoughts arise that
so much gravel yearly is spread that I should have had it black topped 5 years ago.

Yesterday the sun did shine for a short time
and I smiled at the sound of geese I heard flying overhead.
Also the really big woodpecker made his welcome sound to me as I ate
my lunch on the deck.   Wish I would see him more but the sound he makes lets
me know he is near.    A blue feather was spotted on the ground along
with the sight of many bulbs surfacing the earth.

Spring you are coming
I have wondered lately if you were arriving
at all..

As I glanced down at Callie's bowl
a wasp was spotted.

To think that last week
snow and ice covered the ground and within a week I spot all of these
sights of Spring's arrival.

Callie's winter coat comes off today
and I will see
if this is just a lot of hair
or if she has gained weight this winter.

My girl received her keyboard :)
My mind rarely stops chattering
but in my heart
this one
is aware of her many blessings..

Ernestine, the mud is terrible here, and we're getting rain this morning. The Farmer has to feed the hay to the cattle with the four wheel drive tractor. Knowing that summer will likely bring dry weather makes me ashamed to complain though. I'm so happy for your little granddaughter; playing the piano was something I wanted to do so badly when I was her age but no money for lessons. :(

We finally black-topped our driveway because it grew too many weeds. It is not as environmental, but I could not find time to weed or did not want to spray weed killer every month

Rebecca, Sandra, WWW, thank you.
Tabor if I knew how many more years this one has - I might blacktop.
Charlotte, were not complaining - just stating facts and it is liable to be a no rain summer here also - you and farmer take care.

Nothing can hold her back now...spring is coming! I did a bit of planting this week; excited about the addition of two young Arkansas black apple trees. Rain is such a blessing; guess we can endure a bit of mud. Nell will soon be needing her hair clipped, which ends up being, much to my chagrin, a near shave. I have promised her to wait a bit longer so she won't shiver and shake on chilly nights. I am so proud that your girl got her keyboard. Soon,Woodhaven will be filled with joyous music!

Chip Butter, thank you for your delightful post. Aging is the only thing that is beginning to hold me back now - guess it is about time and I am lasting longer then most :)

So glad she got her keyboard!!! I have Tulip noses poking up through the garden soil, where the snow has melted. I believed for awhile that we were entering an Ice Age and spring wouldn't arrive until June 21st. Grateful that I was wrong!
