Two Rapid Beating Hearts

Many times I leave the screen door opened slightly
for Callie.
A humming bird occasionally will  fly onto the porch.
Yesterday evening
this happened and I always feel so sorry for the little bird
that is flying wildly back and forth, hitting against the screens.

I pick up my little net on a long handle, be sure and put
on a glove and with my heart beating rapidly and the
little bird so excited I usually am successful in catching
and releasing outside.
So aware how frightened this little bird is,
careful as I do not want to harm or grab the beak.
Catch, release and happy this was successful.

Rain still an issue on and off during the day.
Electricity went off again for an hour
makes second time in a week.   I do believe
there is not enough equipment to handle the homes in this area.

Did not feel like cooking and really not hungry but have to
eat something
especially since still on the dreaded antibiotic Cipro.
Oh my
I dislike medication....

Made a small portion of stir fry
try to always keep frozen shrimp in the freezer
for times like this.  Always a variety of vegetable in the refrigerator.
My fruit tea
and a small piece of Key Lime pie
was enough for me.

Another day ended
and ever aware
that I have so much to be thankful for....

Hi Ernestine...I love stir fry, but don't like the so sweet taste of many sauces. What do you use in your stir fry? Your meals always look so appealing to me.You know, many women who live alone, never cook for themselves. What a shame.

Hope you get to feeling better. I've taken Cipro and it's so hard on me...so I know what you are going through.

Ernestine to the rescue!! We've had them in the garage and it's really hard to catch one.We are out of breath and they are too.

Have a lovely day today. The heat is coming back here, so the windows will be shut and the AC will go on. Phooey!

Ernestine, I noticed on your Saturday post you talked about turnip greens. Can you tell me how you cook yours?

Balisha, I use just a drop or two of low sodium soy sauce and sometimes a drop or two of seasame
seed oil.
Oh yes Cipro is awful. I have several bladder infections a year because of colitus but this one is worse 500 mg for a week and now 1000 mg. daily. Balance and arth is horrible at this time.
Also I have always ate healthy and like my food better then eating out but very occasionaly just for people contact. With health problems at this time - I know what I am eating and make small portions. Sure different then when a mate and 4 children were home.

Sallysmom. I wash over and over to remove dirt and mine are small so they do not need to be cut. If from the market you need to remove the tough stem and possible cut them smaller. I just simmer in a little water short time. Southerners use a little bit of bacon grease - I usually do not.
When done I slice a hard boild egg on top and sprinkle some crispy bacon that I have cooked on top.
I find it a complete meal with corn bread.

Dear Ernestine ~ So glad you were able to rescue and release your feathered visitor.

Your supper looks delicious!

I'm hoping we get some rain as we've not had a good watering from heaven in a couple of weeks now. I'd sure like cooler weather too. Today it was hot and humid, temp in the 90's but felt like it was 101.

Have a lovely week ~ FlowerLady

Have you tried D-Mannose (from the health food store) for your bladder infections? I swear by it and it's not anti-b.

Also with turnip greens I had slivered almonds and sweet onions and sauté gently in an aromatic oil like walnut or sesame.

XO
WWW - I hope you feel better soon.

FL, Sandy,Sky,Judy :)
WWW, thank you, never heard of it and may order some. I have this chronic and have to stop taking the antibioics... they sure do not make you feel good.

www, thanks for a different idea for my turnip greens. Never thought of the almonds. Have added the onions.

Oh, such a tender sweet story about the hummingbird rescue. What a dear heart you have.
Hope you are near the end of the Cipro. That stuff is vile. Last Spring when I was repeatedly so sick, they gave it to me, and I know it made me much sicker. Took so long for my body to recover.
Love that dinner you made with the shrimp. Must do that!
Wishing you wellness....
