Corn And A Thought

The corn arrived
some in refrigerator
and the rest in freezer
that will be shucked as used.
Never did it this way in the past
but best for me at this time.

Is there anything better
then corn dropped in boiling water
for a few minutes and then covered with butter?

Corn that was picked just hours before
and I think this is the best I have ever tasted
and I have eaten a lot of corn over the years.

A thought
why is it at this time of my life
that everything that is pleasurable to me brings such happiness,
 peace and contentment.
Then anything that causes me deep pain
is many times  magnified and is sometimes difficult
for me to handle?

So with the last 5 small squash from my garden,
a handful of bok choy and my tomato and cottage cheese
dinner was pleasing.

Keep having thoughts
of driving 45 minutes to an hour
north of my home
and buying more of this corn.
Becky went out of her way to bring this to me
and do not want to ask her to do the same
next time she drives to the country.

But then
what I have on hand
 is enough for one.

Also
do not like being on the road
when temperature is now in the 90's.

For some reason my emotions are powerful in either direction. Possibly I see the forest now, and not the trees. I try to experience a thing and then move on to the lighter fare of life. Doesn't work every time, but it is something to do.

Fresh corn is a delight for sure. Traveling and frequenting the farmer's markets we are enjoying fresh vegetables.

Take care of you. Thank you for sharing.

I didn't know you could freeze corn without blanching? You just put it in a freezer bag, husk and all?

Judy, I have not done it this way before
and will see how it works
This young woman said to leave the shucks on and freeze in plastic bags and take out as you use for a piece to boil or to cut off for family.
So will see....
Sandy, thank you for visiting

I have shucked it and then put it in freezer bags. It's pretty good that way...but nothing like it fresh from the market.I'm going to try this way.

I cook 3 ears in a microwave dish... loosley covered...with about a quarter inch of water. Microwave it on high for about 6 min. This way I don't heat up the kitchen with a pot of boiling water. It has such a fresh flavor done this way.

I know you can micro it with the husk on, but handling that hot corn is kind of dangerous... also handling a big pot of water.

Good Morning Wood Haven!... I found your site quite by chance... I think... but then, maybe not. "The Lord works in mysterious ways"... urged my Mom... and so does His Universe!

I have very much enjoyed mulling over a couple of your writings and will continue to do so... simply because I find them refreshingly well-written... transparent... Truth-filled... and "mindful" - your word!

Picasso once offered it was his belief that one's only purpose in life is to find themselves. I believe that is a precious and peaceful moment when Life reveals that to "You"... and you can continue for what remains of your earthly journey with Resolution... Peace and Joy.

Eathly time is measured by most in years, but when one is forced through adversity to see it for what it truly is... it becomes much easier to savour it in moments and breaths... fully alive.

I found a small newspaer clipping in my dear Gramma's bedside Bible after she had passed on. It read:

"I choose to die living and not to live dying."

Those words have become my own Quest and to the best of my ability... I have had it govern my own journey. My life is much richer... and purposeful... even "mindful."

God's richest blessings... further Joy and Peace!

Fair Journey!
Warmest regards,
Bruce Sherman

what a beautiful plate of late summer food! and how wonderful to have some of the best corn ever. I am curious how this freezing method works---somehow I think that it will.
Take good care, Nancy

Bruce, what a blessing for me
to read your note this morning.
Thank you and I will be visiting you :)
Nancy, thank you, knowing how busy you are - and when you visit
it puts a smile on my face.
Balisha, like you have tried all ways and this is new and probably the easiest and when cooking for one it is easy....
