The Heart Smiles
End of day
looked out window
and there was
a beautiful creature
at the end of the drive
looking at me.
Quietly went onto
screen porch
and took an image
through the screen.
3 years in this cottage
and I still get excited
and smile when I see
these creatures.
Fall
you are not far away....

Early this morning I felt a 'hint' of autumn in the air.
Love and hugs ~ FlowerLady
Yesterday morning there were five of these beauties in my yard, some in the flower beds, and they had eaten off the tops of all the daylilies. Sad ~ after such a terrible summer for the lilies, they had started putting out green shoots; now I suppose they'll have to try again. The Dog had spent the night away from home and let me down on his security watch.
It pleased me you felt excitement at seeing the deer. We have so many woodland visitors I plant and hope there is enough for all of us. I love this season most of all. Happy Labor weekend, dear one.
It is a gift when they trust us long enough to study us rather than run in fear.
What a wonderful surprise! I can't wait for fall. :)
Lorraine, Charlote, Lynn, Tabor and Mel, thanks to each of you for writing. Could not get image clearer because of the screen.
I love to see them, too. We get so excited when wildlife joins us anywhere we are. Wish I could take you with us to see the beautiful black bears snacking on clover in Whistler during June. Deer are always near us here at home, and we see them even heading to the local market. They often meander through the neighborhood which backs up to green belts all around. It never fails to thrill me when we spot them. Last week we saw a doe and fawn eating apples from a tree nearby and sat for 30 or so mins gazing at these beautiful and graceful wild ones.
we are fortunate to be living away from cities and to have such creatures honouring us with their visits.
Ursala, we live in magical lands :)
Sky, now I think bears would frighten me - maybe not :)
Ursula, forgive me for misspelling your name..
When a wild creature seems to notice me, I cannot help but feel honoured.
Deborah, thank you - this is how I felt - honored...
peaceful bit of natures wonder.
We haven't seen deer but know they have been to visit because they ate all the leaves on my hosta plants. The leaves will be back next year. I hope the next time the deer will come through when I can say hello.
Sandy and Sharon, thanks for visiting...
