not much accomplished
recipes still piled on table
boxes of pictures I am sorting for children
are still sitting here.
Since Thanksgiving around the corner
I will try to hide them somewhere
until family leaves.
I have always like to iron on a rainy day
went up to the loft and into storage room
and brought ironing board into guest bedroom.
Ironed for several hours
pillow cases, table clothes (does anyone use them anymore besides me? :)
blouses and a cotton night gown - a lot still left.
left on the planet that likes to iron.
Early in the morning
turkey out of freezer
and make corn bread for dressing (not stuffing but corn bread in this cottage)
Need to pick a bouquet of my Sage.
Tuesday will make a rum cake
and have not made it in years.
My recipe is yellow with age and I wrote at the bottom "so good."
Wednesday will make pumpkin pie and a pecan pie (with choclate chips for Jamie)
Set table, platters, pans I use on counter and have everything ready for me to begin cooking at dawn on Thanksgiving.
I like my New York Times that I received on Sunday morning for 1/2 price,
always look forward to it
and this morning some was missing (disappointing) and
will have to call local delivery person in the morning.

and do not like it getting dark so early...

No, you're not the last one on the planet who likes to iron. I do, too. And I like to use tablecloths, also. AND I don't like early, dark nights, either!
My d-i-l and I were talking about a tablecloth I gave her when we moved from the city house. It's cotton, but I assured her she didn't have to iron it for the Thanksgiving table! An ironed cotton nightgown would feel wonderful. Enjoy your family and Thanksgiving.
I went looking for my iron and realized I have two! But I couldn't remember where I had decided to store the ironing board when I moved back to the cottage three years ago. I guess I don't iron much.
I do not iron very much anymore as there are so many other things I need to do. But as a child I did like ironing and did a LOT for my mom. No cooking for me this
Thanksgiving as I am going to daughters to help her.

Daughter's offered to make Thanksgiving dinner or bring something. As long as I can do it I will - like to cook and always make old favorites and really like my cooking better :)
My first little job was ironing for my dentist's wife after she had twins. I was about 13yrs old and we were neighbors. He asked, while my mouth was stuffed with cotton, "Do you like to iron?" I answered as best I could, "Yes." I got the job.
Sounds like a busy week ahead for you. I'm making several dishes to go with our meal, ones that are favorites from years past.

I use tablecloths but they don't need ironing at all. I did love ironing. Estranged daughter #2 got that gene.
I would sew a lot and that entailed much ironing of seams and hems. Would love to sew again, must sort out the tiny craft room, the sewing machine is buried under wool and half completed things.

I ironed cotton kitchen curtains just this evening. i love ironing. I really miss putting on the thanksgiving dinner, but alas, all children go to their in-laws for the day.
WWW, I have some that I do not iron but some very old cotton ones
and I like doing this as it is relaxing for me. So much going on and at the moment fighting tears.

I take great satisfaction in ironing - the pressed seams and crisp plackets. My kids iron, too. It's the little things that make all the difference.
