Sometimes I Forget

Yes, sometimes I forget how
music
eases physical pain and other kind of pain also.

Relaxing comes about, a smile surfaces
along with old memories and soon you remember
how music, dancing and singing was such a big part of your past life.

So on the - getting old Bose player -  a wide variety of music is playing
some of my old favorites....
and quite an assortment.....
B.J. Thomas, Enya, Mozart, Yanni, Eagles and beautiful sound of old hymns played on a harp.

At the moment "Raindrops Are Falling"

Soft, relaxing, upbeat and favorite old hymns.

I fill my mind with these sounds,
relaxing surfaces
and memories
of how I have always loved music.

Part of aging
for this one
is there were so many lifestyles
and so many
Dam memories
some good and some not so good.

Guess I am not the only one....

But at this moment
music fills the air of this cottage,
 I smile
and share my thoughts
world wide.

Interesting to learn how much you enjoy music! I come from a background of music: Mama's family gathered around the old pump organ to sing and she and Daddy later sang in a southern gospel quartet. One thing I wish ~ that I could play musical instruments "by ear", then I would play bluegrass music.

One of the best things I ever did several years ago was to put all my music on my Ipod. And then classify it into Playlists to suit my mood or when company comes, etc.
Or just shuffle my 6,000 pieces into a "surprise me" mix.
Love my music as you do!!

I realized last fall that I never listen to music anymore. It used to be playing all the time. So, I dusted off and moved my CD player into the kitchen and have been listening to Beethoven--he always has good French Horn parts and Jazz for French Horns, and Andy Griffith singing old hymns and Sousa marches. I find myself smiling and the music seems to help me with my house work.

-happy sigh- I almost feel relaxed, just reading your post.

Yes, I love music. We usually have the classical station tuned, in the house. But... I don't always resonate with their selections. -pout- I want lovely, lilting, happy, etc. music. Not the dollldrums, which the station often plays. -moan-

And only one, one, one classical station available. Yes, I know! CD's!

A co-incidence. I am planning a post of favourite old music too.

Listening to some pieces actually makes me cry with longing.

Your post sparked a sweet memory of my lovely cultured mother at the piano belting out "Saint Louis Woman ..with all your diamond rings..." To everyone's great surprise and delight.

Charlotte, my youngest granddaughter plays the piano, guitar and now banjo :)
Love listening to music but never desired to learn an instrument.

Aging. A process, a journey. We are all connected, and yet we walk alone.
