Accepting

I am still having difficulty with accepting the fact that I was not physically able
to attend my much loved granddaughter's wedding.

I smile as many pictures arrive and it warms my heart when I saw that my name was included in a special way
on the Wedding Church Program.

Such happiness on the faces
of my loved ones
the morning after the wedding
is very evident to me.

It has been set on the background
of my computer
so that each time I turn it on
there it is.

I must add that my youngest granddaughter
that is being held
did not disappoint
this one
and I smile when her dancing abilities were described to her grandmother.

So
when I feel blue
all I have to do is look at these faces
and my heart smiles.

With rain daily here by the woods
my garden is thriving
Next to bloom
are the daylillies....

I know first hand how you feel about the wedding.I'm sure you were thought of with love off and on all through the day.
We weren't able to attend Xoie's wedding either, because of Joe's problems. I felt so badly on that day, but felt better as pictures and comments came in through Facebook. Not the same as attending at all....but better than it would have been years ago.

We just have to learn to "accept" and know that we know what is best for us at this time. I don't know who was fooling who, when they said that these are the golden years. I never know, from day to day how I'm going to feel. I might sound chipper on my blog, but if I told all my aches and pains...it would be a boring read. I've never been one to share much of my very personal life...and i suppose that will continue.

Each day is a surprise to us....a day of struggle or a day of serenity. We just need to roll with the punches.

Hope this comment finds you feeling good and doing what you love at Woodhaven.

Balisha, bless your heart for your special words. It seems I am not good at accepting - or some days good and other days not so good. I think of no longer writing online and then have the thought that maybe as time goes by it may help someone or maybe it is just helping me to send it out the the Universe...

beautiful garden shot! everything looks so happy and healthy. who does your weeding? wish we could find someone who could differentiate between a weed and our beloved plants! it would free up weekend time for hubby. most of the landscape services around here are actually for lawn care.

Sky, I do the weeding. Once every 3 or 4 weeks someone cuts grass and I do the rest....

Ernestine, I have been thinking of you and all the happenings in your family. Lovely wedding photos, and I know you were missed at the event. I hope there's a chance for the newlyweds to visit you at your haven in the woods.

It's always good to hear from you, my friend.

Your online writing helps me to have a glimpse into my future. I love your truthfulness. There are ups and downs on the path of aging, but you do come out acknowledging the good in your life most of the time. You are a good role model. Hugs!

I think the very hardest part of life for independent women is accepting that their aging bodies will make more decisions for them then they like!!! Acceptance of this and using the technology to make a compromise makes it so much nicer, doesn't it? Perhaps they should have tried to SKYPE the wedding reception?

Tabor, I like
your comment
"that our bodies may make more decisions for us then we like."
and yes you describe me as I have always been and plan to remain - an independent woman :)

The photo of your granddaughter's wedding day is dreamy. How blessed there are pictures for you, and being remembered on her special day.

And your garden looks a veritable victorian beauty. Lush lush lush......a welcome sight for me.

Your garden is paradise! I hope that eases your sadness at not being at the wedding.

The picture of the bride and groom is wonderful.

And I often think if I have to miss such an event, it can be a very oddly lonely time being in attendance. I know you understand that last sentence :)

I too had to miss a grand daughter's wedding. She and her hubby are both from this area, but they wanted their wedding in Oregon, where they had both found jobs. BAH HUMBUG!! I think back in the day, we would have had our wedding in our home town, where our families still lived. Your garden is glorious!!!!!

I know that every relative at the wedding carried you their in their hearts...especially that beautiful bride as she walked the aisle to her future.
Do not even think of giving up on your writing. Your outlook and honesty have been important to me in ways I never expected. I look for you every day, feel worried and disappointed when yo go missing, and think of you often during my days. You inspire me to make my little piece of life as meaningful, beautiful and serene as I can.
