Ernestine, that sounds awful! Pain is frightening and can increase our anxiety. I am so sorry that you are experiencing this. I will hold you in my heart.

pain is likely related to the shingles...nerve involvement. just keep in mind it will go away over time but it will take some time. so sorry you are in so much discomfort and are frightened. glad you are taking the meds. hope that will give you a little relief. I have had both in my my lifetime, and both have helped me during the periods I needed them. shingles episode was one of the times. maybe they can pour some soapy water (shampoo mixed in warm water) over your head and then rinse with warm water in a few days. it won't be the same as washing your scalp but it might help you feel more refreshed. keeping you in my thoughts and sending love and wishes for relief.

I am so sorry you are hurting so much dear Ernestine. You have been through so much. It will pass. The waiting is terrible.

I would be frightened too. And have been. Glad somebody is spending time with you. Hair can wait. Dry shampoo might work though.

Biggest hugs.

It’s at times like these that one needs to try and separate from the pain.Visualize your llovely grandkids, and great grand child. It may be hard at first but hopefully meditating on them will bring relief and then over time your nerves may find peace also,

I cry tears for you Dear Friend. I wouldn't be able to stand that kind of pain, but....what else can you do? I think you need something stronger for pain. 500 mg Percocet every six hours. Or even half that would help? There is one tiny thing to be thankful for--the Shingles are not near your eyes!!!

Sending healing prayers your way. My husband said that shingles are the most painful skin condition on earth!

Be SURE to take your pain medication regularly & the anti-anxiety meds, too, regularly. Anxiety aggravates pain; pain aggravates anxiety and both aggravate shingles! It's a hamster on a wheel, but taking your meds as prescribed can knock that hamster right off the wheel! My husband went through shingles for about 3 weeks, but only had one serious outbreak in 10 years. Hope you outbreak heals ASAP! xo
