I split the plants in the pot and put in several locations and they
have done wonderful.
Another late bloomer and no bugs or disease has attacked it.
It has really spread and that is what the owner shared it would do
Is not blooming at the moment but I am expecting that in the
next week or two.
So this Fall will plant it in several places among my gardens and my put some
in the woods....
Anyone know the name ?

This would be lovely in your woods! I hope it is a plant which can withstand the heat; seems like this is what we need to put in our flower gardens these days.
Yesterday, my reading of your journal brought me to October 30, 2008 when you wrote, "A spot picked out and I surrounded it with orange stakes to show shape of cottage and location of front porch and back screen porch." How exciting...I can hardly wait until later this evening when I can read on. What a gift you have for writing! I hope you are making copies or backing this up in some way.
But, I did shed a few tears when I read about the loss of your precious Sadie. She reminded me so much of my Nell, who is my constant companion and now almost 12 years old.
It might be a lupine. I have not tried these...you do have a green thumb.

Charlotte, heat does not bother this plant.
Tabor, next time I am in the neighboring town I will stop by and ask this lady about the name.
It thrives and nothing bothers it.
Similar to a purple aster that I have that will bloom in the Fall.
It sort of looks like obedient plant.
sallysmom, I think that is what the lady told that gave it to me.
Will do some investigating.

It is very hot and very dry. We got a few drops this afternoon.
'Sorry for the deleted comment. :) I was thinking Salvia at first, but Obedient Plant looks and sounds more like it, especially since you say it has spread like crazy. I loved mine, but they do have a way of taking over, so don't worry, you'll probably have these around to love forever. :)

It is an Obedient Plant (physostegia virginiana) and also know as False Dragonhead. If you were to adjust the stems in a particular position they would stay in place, hence 'obedient'rtnoncCh
