I just came in from doing some cleaning in my garden.
Just wanted to be outside.
Still very chilly and the ground is so damp
Some plants have yellow leaves at the bottom because of so much rain
Took special notice of the herbs that have lived through the winter,
some coming up from seeds that were spread and some small plants purchased.
Rosemary, sage, chives, dill, mint and cilantro have emerged on their own
Basil, parsley and lavender were purchased.
At my other home the lavender made it through several winters and was a wonderful size.
Did not make it through the winter here in the woods.
Last year when the herbs were thriving I showed my 4 year old granddaughter
how to rub the leaves and the scent would be on her fingers.
She would smile and say "grandma they smell so good."
A trip to the garden center in a few days and will check to see if there is something else I want to add.

basil is my fav of all. we have hestitated to put ours in yet since we got into the 30s again last night. but by june 1 we will be planting several varieties of it. the fragrance is so exotic to me and i never get enough!
Blackberry winter....that is the time it gets cold when the blackberry blooms are on. It came to me and I googled it....

I'm in the process of planting some herbs in clay pots to put in the corner of my deck. I have a little herb garden, but it is so far from the kitchen. I'm always drawn to herbs when at a garden center. Balisha
Balisha, I have some of mine in pots. The ground here is still so soggy. Nothing looks to good at the moment :)

So surprised the lavender did not survive the winter. It sure seems so tough and grows heartily here. It is my favorite scent.
