January Gone

Second emergency hospital visit.
All test repeated
Told, so healthy but sodium plunges
putting me in life threatening position.
Trying to regain strength and gain weight.
Snow and ice arrived
family could not get to me.
6 ladies, must be angels
have helped me through this.

So I continue on
trying to understand much.
Home therapy visits
with weekly blood test
and therapy to strengthen me.

Will be back..

Dear Ernestine ~ It was good to see your post, but not to read your health news.

This is such a challenge for you. Spring is around the corner, but you need to make plans for people to get to you or you to them if the storms prevent travel. You hate to leave your house, but you may need a live-in assistant or you need to think about staying with family for a while. Since these are not just inconvenient health issues but emergencies, you need to take control as you work out medications and therapy.

Oh my friend, sodium plunges are no laughing matter, and please do take care. Take whatever steps are needed to ensure that you can get out when you need to, and that others can get in to see you when needed.

I agree with Pienosole - the new header is magical.

Thanks for letting us know. I was/am SO concerned. Thankful for the 6 who come to assist. And "Yes" to what Tabor suggested about a live-in assistant, etc.

It is great to hear from you again. Build your strength. Stay warm. Snuggle up with an inspiring book.

My friend has sodium issues, and has landed in the hospital for IV's with this problem. She now drinks salty bouillon every morning, and takes sodium tablets as well. Hope this helps you... We miss you!

Take care of yourself. It's wonderful to have people willing to help. You have a lovely view from your window!

Gorgeous new photo. I'm sorry for the continuing health difficulties. Would Gatorade-type drinks help with the sodium issue? (I've read you can make your own simply by adding salt to lemonade and other flavored drinks.) I wish I were nearby. I would be happy to stop by from time to time with healthy foods, good books, and a snow shovel. :)

Best Wishes,

Val

I've just had the feeling that all was not well with you, Ernestine. You're in my nightly "God bless" list. Thank God for those who have helped you at this time. Love, Charlotte

So glad you've posted. You know I was worried about you.
It is not good to have low Sodium and it really doesn't matter how much salt you eat.
I have the same problem, but it is my Potassium level. If it drops, I end up in ER.
At least we are lucky they can pull us back from the brink--at least, so far! :-)
(Another reason it is sometimes scary living alone)

you probably already know that thyroid issues can cause blood sodium level problems as can the liver and kidneys. sure hope they get to bottom of it soon. I know it must be a bit scary to be going through this. hope you are off the steroids and that you will be feeling your typical springtime energy very soon. :) thinking about you and sending love across the miles. very glad you posted.

FYI - Ernestine, I deleted my original comment (same text) as above and re-entered to see if I could fix the profile photo that was missing. (I had to change my profile pic host address with blogger to solve the problem.) It worked.
