The Way It Is

A number of not too good weeks as inflammatory disease took its toll on this One Woman.

911 call a week ago as I was on the verge of fainting and wringing wet, admitted to hospital and seems I was depleted of so much, kidney infection
and more.   Never before so many IV's

So home several days and even though I am told all is fine, am healing, on new steroid,
I still do not feel like my normal self and very weak.

Unexpected visit to eye doctor today, a dear person I use to go to church with (as still not up to
driving)   Seem what I experienced dried my eyes out  and on special drops for that.

A joy
at home
my Orchid plants are sporting 20 buds and 4 blooms.
These two plants
one from my son for last years birthday
and one from my granddaughter Jessica in New York.

Will be back soon
just so many checking in
and wanted to share what is going on in this cottage at the edge of the woods....

I was just going to email you as I was concerned and up you popped on my newsfeed. Oh dear Ernestine, you've had trials, how stressful and now dry eyes on top of that.

Take your time and heal and get well and back to yourself.

The orchids are spectacular :)

Gotta keep your Potassium and electrolytes up Ma'am. That's what landed me in hospital last Spring and caused the rapid heart rate. Times like that are the only reason I get scared living alone. I had a couple bad experiences myself this past week.

I was going to e-mail you because you had been way to quiet. Take care--you will get better! We will just keep, keeping on, until the last moment!! :-)

I am so very sorry to read this. How frightening for you. It is so difficult when your body goes off on its own little jaunt and you are trying to take care of it as I know you do. I hope that they don't just give you medications but also assistance in reducing the problem and helping you get back to being stronger. Wish I lived next door as I would be so glad to help!!!

I too am sorry to read that this has happened, but glad to know you are back home and getting better. I echo Tabor's wish to live nearby so I could help. Sending many positive well wishes. Take care. Thank you for posting.

I have been checking every day to see if you had posted since Christmas Eve and Alas! Nothing. Now I understand why you weren't posting. You were in the hospital. I am so glad that you were at last able to come home to your cottage in the woods. Your orchid photo is simply beautiful. I have often wondered if I could grow one. Maybe I can if you can. Right now I am struggling to keep a pink cyclamin alive. I hope that you feel better and get a little stronger each day. (In case you don't remember me, I'm your friend in Sweetwater,TX.)

How wonderful to have several orchids coming into flower. This must be a cheery sight as you recover from your bout of ill health.

Did you know that inflammatory conditions can also be greatly helped by the proper diet? That means cutting out sugar and refined carbohydrates (white flour, pasta and rice) and dairy products and coffee aren't great either. There are so many health sites on the web that can be consulted and tell us the best things to eat and those to avoid at all cost. Go for foods that contain Omega 3 and not Omega 6 (which is inflammatory).

Wishing you a speedy recovery and to feeling like yourself again.

Your orchids are gorgeous. Isn't it amazing when they come back and bloom for a second, or even a third year! Gifts that keep on giving.

Sorry that you haven't been well. I checked in on your blog several times, and thought/hoped that you were just taking a holiday break.

I hope you can get some relief from your dry eyes and that the different steroid will start doing better for you. It seems like we have to take the good along with the bad when it comes to steroids. They sure do a lot of different stuff to our bodies when we take them--sometimes making us feel better, and sometimes not so much.

I'm hoping that you will start feeling better and stronger every day.

Thankful you got help when you did!
Seems so many are facing unprecedented health problems.
Checking in on those near/dear to us is SO essential...doing what we can with what we have...where we are.
Hope you find meaningful, peaceful & life-enhancing activities to fill your hours and match the beauty of those orchids ♥

I have had dry eye for years now. Regular drops do help. I keep some by the bed for nighttime applications since that s when the dryness is worst.

Hi Ernestine, I had a feeling that you were not well and I hope that you'll regain strength in body. I know you have strength in spirit. My orchids are a few weeks behind yours--two of them have long long stems and buds forming. I love LOVE your images of them. Take good care--you have a community of loving support, Nancy
