Heavy Frost

Winter has arrived at the edge of the woods,
leaves will change rapidly and soon field in front of cottage will be cut
and it will lay bare for little Callie to explore.
Memories surface of years ago when this took place
my son would search for arrow heads and always successful.

Guess I will have to bring down Winter jackets, coats, scarves and gloves
For some reason I keep having thoughts that there will be an early snow.

Most winterized outside and a little remains to be done.  Need to continually
stock up on groceries for times trip to the market will not happen.

I am almost pleased for this much cooler weather as it will give me some
down time inside.

A memory of years ago when Jessica, now a teacher in New York, Gavin her brother,
working in Washington, DC,
on visit put on some of grandma's jackets and her hat :)

Need to hang Fall wreath

Hoping this scene is far in the future.....

Good Morning. Chilly this am! I too have a hunch there will be early snow, but also hope it is later. In any case, it's good to be prepared. Wishing you a warm, peaceful Sunday. :-)

It's getting a might nippy here. Hoping for some more real nice days in the next month. After that ...

Chilly here, too.
Seasons...
the changes get my attention
and nudge me to activity
that stimulates me, body, soul and spirit.
The older I get, the more I need that stimulation.

Yes, stock up on lots of groceries. What about water? Do you have a well or are you on what we call rural water? Take care.

Can't tell you how much I love your header.

I dread winter after my fall last winter. Seriously dread it. Silly. Though I love my fire and my knitting and reading.

Thank heaven for the internet.

I have seen news of early snows in areas of the U.S. Also, predictions that this will be a very harsh winter. I am so hoping not, because as we age the thrill of being stuck indoors and missing school no longer exists. We will wait and see.

We had our first dusting of snow last night, but the snow melted it today. I do love the winter, and that 'thrill' Tabor mentioned is still very strong in me. My only winter concerns are my kids driving in it. Other than that, I love the fresh, cold air, and the white beauty.

No snow in my yard yet - it's late and I'm glad of it! However, there are clouds over the mountains so there might be a dusting on the peaks by tomorrow. I'm already wearing layers in the house and jacket and gloves outside. We have a fire going - winter is not far off.

Our first hard freeze was Wednesday.
My annuals are dead, which I'm ready for.
Clean it all up and get ready for the snow.
We are supposed to have a mild winter up here in Michigan.

Ernestine, we're still having almost summer-like days, with lots of sunshine. We haven't had rain in a long time and the grass looks dead, brown and crisp and very dusty. I know a lot of people really like fall, but it makes me dread winter because I have to be outside so much doing farm work. I sorta envy those of you who can sit by the fire and read or do handwork. Take care doing all your outside pre-winter chores..

Charlotte, seem nice weather has rturned - cool mornings but nice afternoons
in high 60's
Please take care of yourself
this one never stops
no reading in ages and wish fire to sit by this winter - gas logs for emergency only.
Wish I could relearn my handword
but no spare time at this time
Family left and still getting caught up inside
Think of you often - rest when you can...
