Wrong

It is 35 and a warming trend in progress.
So
I thought I will put on my boots and carefully go outside and try to open truck doors and sweep steps.
Carefully I progressed
but the ground is like a skating ring with melting water on top.
Cautiously returned inside.
Thankful I am inside and looking out....
Just threw a bucket full of seed out on the ground from the front porch.
I know the birds can make it
but I enjoy watching them.
A great shot yesterday I missed because battery needed replacing.
A fluffy bluebird on the post of the deck.
He was beautiful
and maybe he will return
as I keep watching...

I had plans for tomorrow
but realistically think it may be late Friday or Saturday morning before I can leave the woods.

Schools locally are still closed and my young granddaughter's were able to return in Nashville.

Living in the country with a lot of winding roads
makes a big difference.

I am not out of anything, a long to do list and very thankful for this,
so why am I constantly looking out the window, pacing the floors and would like to
go outside :)  Also would like to go through 3 days of mail.   Called the post office and told
them to keep it and I will pick up later in the week.

What I am experiencing has happened several times in the past almost 40 years
but for some reason it seems different.  Probably because I am older.

The sun is trying to come through the clouds :)

Oh yes, Ernestine, do stay inside until you can see clear ground to walk on. I've had to be out on some very treacherous ground and am always thankful to not have fallen. The last load of chickens are almost ready to leave the farm, so I'm looking forward to some time to work inside.

I've been feeding the birds on the porch; interesting to watch the "pecking" order between the cardinals and the smaller finches and snow birds. Take care, please!

I know you are itching to get outside and work.

The photos are so good and give me another idea of where you are.

Winter is surely leaving soon.

it snowed all day today… tiny, perfect white stars, holding their form because it is so cold I guess. Spring will arrive when it does… but it is easy to feel cagey watching birds fly free through window pains.

You might want to consider another snow boot...one with treads...maybe stop at the REI or sporting goods store to see what they have. The rubber boots do not have enough treads for me. I think you are the type of person that needs to have things done and that is why you are getting cabin fever earlier than those of us who love the excuse to waste time.

I have cabin fever too, but, my steps are solid ice. Warm up is coming and then we can go outside...

Perhaps it is the knowing that even if you had an emergency and needed to get out--you can't? So far, this winter hasn't bothered me at all to be snowed in, iced in, but then...I am a hermit and like being shut in.

Charlotte, Sandy, Laura, Tabor, Judy, Beverly, thanks to each of you for visiting.
I like my lifestyle but seems I miss being outside :)Will check out the boots, these have treads but wonder if there is anything good for this ice and really need to stay off of it :)

Checking in! Nice to read your post. Be careful with those icy driveways. We have had such cold temperatures, but things are looking up for the week ahead. Take care. I will check in again next time I use a public internet connection... and may get a letter off to you soon, the old-fashioned way!

Aisling, your address is on my desk - thoughts of writing
and just have not felt like writing. Forgive me
special girl :)

My daughter bought Yak Traks, which are cleats you attach to the bottom of your boots. They are popular in cold-weather climes like Maine. She had to do something so she could get out to walk the dog. This is such unusual weather for your part of the country that I can imagine it feels unsettling.

Gracious! This winter has got to end some time! My daughter keeps sending me photos of more snow in Chicago. April will be here soon. I'm afraid staying indoors is the best thing for a while.
