The local paper arrives weekly
and makes me aware of some that is going
on and recent deaths. Living a simpler lifestyle
need this paper or there is much going on
that I would not be aware of.
Holiday tour of some special homes
will take place this weekend.
Memories surface and I found myself smiling.
After leaving the old farm house 12 years ago
one of the homes I built is in the historical district
of this town. It is a part of the tour. The paper mentioned that I designed the home
and how well it fit in with this section of older homes.
One of my goals was to make this home look like it was not new.
This home and creating a garden in the small back yard brought a lot of pleasure.
Seemed I still possessed a lot of creative energy at that time and kept having thoughts
of moving on to the big city where it would be closer to some of my children.
and youngest grandchildren.
Always of the mindset that if it is meant to be it would all fall in place.
Put this home on the market as an experiment and it
sold in a few weeks. A lot was found in
the big city that everyone said could not be bought.
Onward with that home, enjoyed time in the big city but my heart
was not at Peace.
Missed the country immensely so this home was put on the market
and it took longer to sell then any home I had created.
A recession progressing and there was a sizable loss.
Now back home where I began a solo life over 30 years ago.
Thankful this property was kept, seemed in my heart I could
not let it go even though I sought other lifestyles.
Hopefully this is where I can spend
the rest of my days and beyond....
Another story for my grandchildren....

Oh that is nice! Of course I'd rather live in the country; I think I would be a recluse for sure if I had to live in the city. It's wonderful you have found your woods.
Charlotte, thank you once again for visiting :)
I, too, have loved city living but my heart has always resided by the ocean and has since conscious memory. My dream was to finally leave the city and sit by the ocean.
I've never been happier.
I don't think we can live for others whether children or grandchildren. We need to live for ourselves and the rest of our lives fall into place.

WWW, so agree with you. I miss the ocean visits and in a way it seems like yesterday instead of years ago. Time you moved quickly...
My cottage in the woods close to the seashore is where I want to be always. Who knows? My gypsy life has taken down many wonderful roads. Every time I thought I was settled life moved me on. I’m happy you found your perfect spot too. It’s a little early to drive around and see the house lights. In a couple of weeks it is one of my favorite times of the year. What a nice morning you had to see your name mentioned in the newspaper. Hope you are feeling better.
Thanks for the reminder that if it is meant to be, it will fall in place (as long as we are open to this).
What a lovely post. Our property is our little haven from the crazy world that we live in. It would be nice to live out in the country but we don't.
Lots of love and hugs to you dear Ernestine.

Lynn, you sound like me. In these last chapters will see what happens.
Pienosole, yes I truly believe this ")
FL, we are lucky...
You have created such beauty.
Dear Mel, thank you so much for taking the time to read my thoughts:)
You have come full circle and wound up right where you want to be. I was telling my daughter yesterday how much I enjoy your stories and the way you share what you've learned throughout your life. I enjoy the comments of your other readers, too.
I like this colorful photo of you:)
Sharon, thank you for your special words. Not feeling the best lately and I look at this 10 year old image]
and think
is that me :)
Lovely sharing of your reflections and photos. For every place there is a season paraphrases a more familiar saying, but I find my season now finds me in a place where I probably best be -- as much as I enjoy seaside and wooded areas.
I could enjoy having family not quite so far away, but -- like you -- we had our years of busy busy lives, so am glad my family can have experiences that will be unique to them.
joared, hopefully I can stay in my cottage...
What a journey you have had, Ernestine. And what a beautiful garden! You have created so many wonderful settings and things in your life, including the relationships you have with family, which seem so warm and rich.
Ellen, thank you...
