The Beginning

I am back in the city this morning and will return on Monday morning to the country with my little granddaughter.

I probably will keep repeating myself "I am pleased with all that has transpired and look forward to the continuing creation of my nature home." My gardens and the earth on my hands will truly makes this my home.

I like the sparseness of this home. A card table is my kitchen table. I have just enough in the pantry to be comfortable. This home will fill up soon enough when this city home sells. How in the world did it take all day and a large truck to move what is in this home. Upstairs is totally furnished and the garage is full and I am not showing a lot of area's. Enough pictures posted to give an idea of this home. Pictures in the future will be nature shots. Hopefully there are some critters and birds out there. I am beginning to hear them. I was looking forward to opening my bedroom window early in the morning - and they sent the wrong size screen!!!!

I know a cat must have wandered here last night. There were feathers on my walk and straw hanging out of my birdhouse - made me sad.

Since many have traveled this journey with me, I am going to post a few pictures. One Woman moved limited items one week ago today. I want to add that I do not miss having a television and may not have one in this home. Like just having my cell phone but looking forward to having computer installed.

I never have problems with my teeth - but I think I have cracked a crown. I am on an antibiotic since I have had a toothache for two nights.

Thanks again for all of your encouraging words and thoughts you sent forward to me.

This is a simple home but larger then I intended. A lot of my beginning plans changed as the reality of this progressed. One Woman has children and grandchildren and for its future it was made a little larger. I chose Hardy Board over Western Cedar for the upkeep. Pine floors (which finished beautifully) Bead board cabinets. Middle of the line products and for the first time of building a number of homes, I was off on the cost. Guess it was because I added more square footage and a garage. Cost 30% more then I planned. I have not vacationed in years and this home will be like a vacation in my last years!!! One Woman likes to stay busy and I see years of clipping, clearing, planting, photographing and sitting on the porch and deck viewing the trees and the birds.

Memories being made by One Woman

Lovely! Are those prayer flags I see flying in the yard?
May blessings abound in your new home...

Jan, yes they are prayer flags. This hme is 1300 off the main road with a crop of soybeans in front. Over a 100 acres of woods in the back. Thank you for your prayers and encouraging comments.

I am so glad you gave us a peak. It is marvelous. You should have many good years in this home...lots of memory making.

It is stunning. I guess I am amazed at how it does not look so new or stark. It already looks very warm and even lived in! You can put three gold stars on your chart before you drift off to sleep tonight for a job well done.

Balisha, Thank you and hopefully there will be good years spent in a dream that has come true and Tabor you surely know how to make me smile.
I think the woods surrounding this home gives it a look of not being so new. As my gardens and 6 trees I planted in front grow, I want the home to look like it is nestled in the woods. A lot to do outside that I am looking forward to doing. I am contemplating a picket fence as you approach home and maybe a gate on the main road.

How nice your home looks sitting there in the woods. I love the deck and the cute gate on it. It looks like a picket fence gate and to me picket fences just seem to call for paths and gardens. I look forward to how it all comes to life for you.

Oh, how I would love to see more inside photos. It is like I am finally seeing what all you have told us. It is sunnier than I imagined. Maybe one day I will see it....

Just beautiful! I love that you have so many interesting and inviting places to sit and contemplate the peace or your new haven.
Hope your tooth issue is solved quickly.
I think a picket fence would be perfect.

Marcia, Carol, Judy and Sky, thank you for your comments.
Sky, it is bigger then I planned.
Downstairs was all I wanted. A big room for reading, writing, yoga and a kitchen, bedroom, bath and utility room. I was going to have a separate garage. BUT... less expensive with small attached garage and with weather and age thought this was better. With a number of children, grandchildren and an visitor from time to time, thought it needed bedroom and bath upstairs. But if I went with my heart there would have just been just my area. I will be outside most of the time!!!!

My Sweet Friend on the Journey of a Lifetime,

I have been away for a bit (life swallows my free time so often and it has been voracious of late), but returned today with a bit of time to "catch up" and I must say it has been WONDERFUL! Your open honest thoughts and ponderings touch me so deeply (as we are kindreds and the same ideas float through my mind with regularity).

I hope to have many more miles and years in my journey, but many years ago I decided to live in the moment with the truth and beauty of the moment as my constant companion. (I the same goal in your thoughts.) It was a FABULOUS decision to be honest with and about my life -- though not always a tidy or easy way to live.

Alas, you must live a bit divided in goods right now, but it is so obvious where "home" is. Your heart sings with the birds as you guide me around your new home/dream-come-true.

I am ready to hop on a plane and come find you for a cup of tea and a few prayers and tears of JOYful celebration. It is really happening!

Though I have never carried a dream of home-sweet-home from start to finish (mostly I get tumbled along onto a new doorstep and merely move in and make it home), I have thoroughly enjoyed reading each "chapter" you supply. One of my favorite reads has been your journey (of which I tumbled across the threshold, as usual, and simply made myself at home in your welcoming embrace). I love your style.

Though I have not been leaving notes of encouragement lately, you have been in my prayers and in many conversations with my family. We are all praying for you. My eldest daughter said, "She sounds a lot like you, mom. I could see you doing the same thing." I beamed joyfully . . .

Yes, I'm a woman on a journey with different sorts of bumps and hillocks and meadows of distraction. I thank you for encouraging me to hang tight to my dreams, and I in turn return the favor as I dance and celebrate your homecoming to the country of your heart's desire. God is good.

I love the peek. Can't wait for the tour!

Much Love, Debbie

p.s.
Been living without TV for over 17 years. Wish the phone would evaporate, too. Love my internet! ; )

it's so lovely Ernestine! I think the design is perfect and one has to consider guests when you're in a beautiful setting. I'll have plants for you this fall...it's too hot for them now! PPPP will love it there!gail

The house is beautiful. However most important is the beauty that surrounds it and the beauty of the person who is going to live in it. I am so happy for you - this sounds like a dream home!

Maybe someday I can visit you there. It would be a nice retreat :)

Love you,
Liza

Your place looks lovely and serene.
I know moving doesn't feel serene but hopefully soon, as soon as your city home is sold, things will start to feel more relaxing and enjoyable.
It sounds like you've found your little spot of bliss on earth there in the woods.

Debbie, Liza, Gail and Mim, thanks for your kind remarks.
Liza, you are welcome anytime.
Nothing to do but sit and dream or you can help me pull weeds and pick up sticks.

I love it so much. It is beautifully designed and looks like it belongs in the space. I love the openness under the deck. I love the gate on the deck. I love the kitchen. You said you wouldn't be showing more pictures, but if you ever decide to, I'd love to see the other rooms. I am very, very happy for you, Ernestine.
