Be Careful

An image of my wonderful orchid plant that I have enjoyed for a number of years. This image was taken almost a year ago.
Yesterday it showed off 15 buds. Spotting what looked like a dead stem I went for my favorite scissors. Clipped it off and my face fell. I clipped off a stem with 7 buds.
For a few more days guess I had better leave the scissors alone.
In a few weeks instead of 15 blooms my plant will have 8. They will still be magnificent but wish I had not picked up the scissors.
The stem is resting in water in a small bud vase and it will be interesting to I see if the buds open.

An entry this early morning from One Woman

Ernestine,

Oh no! Did you stick the stem in water? I wonder if it would still bloom!

I am attempting to grow two orchids from a plant my daughter bought me two years ago...no blossoms yet! I see that you collect turtles! So do I!

Aisling, yes the stem is in water.
Tabor, this plant has been so beautiful and the blooms last for weeks. I did not mean to collect turtles but they make me smile and I think I may be slow at times but I usually get where I am going!!!

Oh My!! I have been away from the blog for a wee bit and I come back by your place to find that you have had quite the adventure! I laugh to think that your orchid "surgery" tops your list of bloggy thoughts today after other more intense events. You inspire me. And if I ever take up orchids I willheed your advice and avoid scissors. : D Always a delight to visit with you. So glad you are mending nicely. Praise the Lord.

What a beautiful orchid plant....there has to be a reason why you accidentally clipped off that stem.....perhaps the blooms to come will be more spectacular than they would have been!

I love your orchid. I bet they do bloom in the water. Your turtles are so cute crawling across the table! Hope you are feeling all better by now.

Beautiful orchid....I bet that you will end up being delighted and surprised by what the other buds do now that they are on their own!

That is a magnificent orchid plant. I have never dared trying to raise one; I understand they are difficult.

I agree that the remaining buds will probably be larger as all the nutrients will go to them.

Debbie, Marcia, Judy, Darlene and Grammie - thanks for the comments.
Smile at all the comments on my orchid plant. Maybe the buds left will be twice as big.

Seems I do things like this. I notice I should leave things alone and get antsy and do more harm then good.

I must say you have a green thumb for orchids. They are so pretty!

I also like the turtles gives a bit of whimsy.

Have a great day:)

Dear Renee, I have missed you - was going to come looking for you.
Just kidding. Please keep in touch even though you have a lot going on.
