Shadows In October

The October sun is streaming
through different windows.
Love the shadows
there was a time I would
cover furniture.
Not now
This chair is one of a pair
serving me well for
almost fifty years
They are  worn,
faded and comfortable
Full of memories of
different lifestyles.
They were perfect for
the most elegant homes
and now this simple
woods cottage.
I like them just the way they are
They remind me of my
life at this time...

  1. You saved them for this long. NOw windows are usually covered with a sunshade film to protect our furniture. I love that Jacobean print.

  2. Tabor, when I moved to the old farm home they were in a room not used much. I found out years later how much the mice loved the crewel work on them. Was going to recover and was told the fabric was still too nice to removed.
Thank you for visiting this early cold morning - but delightful afternoon.

  6. Comfortable. I like that word. It describes you and that couch quite well.

  7. I like the chair, as well as the corner where it sits and the light that comes through the window. The scene could be a painting. I prefer cozy to elegant every time.
