What Is It - Mystery Solved

Have discovered this plant in the woods.
Green and now turning red.
Have not been able to
give it a name.
Rain is needed
it is so peaceful
in the woods.
Ever thankful I was
allowed to return.
Leaves are falling.

Mystery solved thanks to Balisha and Tabor agreed.
A seedpod for Jack In The Pulpit wildflower
my woods are full of them.
Just never noticed the showy seedpod before.
Looks like a Christmas ornament :)

  1. I think it's the seed head from a Jack in the Pulpit. Did you have jacks planted anywhere near this?

I saw some trees turning already and my asters are starting to bloom. Fall is just around the corner. Here's hoping we have a beautiful, long fall...Balisha

  2. I think Balisha is correct in her ID. They are lovely and you can bring them onto your porch for a still-life.

  5. This is interesting news. We have Jack in the Pulpit plants but I've never noticed seed pods. I will keep my eyes open for them.
